I am not intelligent or well read enough to have the answer, but I often wonder what this land would have been like if the 1982 Canadian Constitution, which the non-withstanding clause is housed in, never came to be.

Welp dear readers, I've lived this expression of my wife's this morning.

I’m a writer and I write about war and conflict; I spend 80% of my reading time on primary sources. The impact of violence and war on people—not just soldiers but civilians and families—is terrible and lasts generations. For Remembrance Day, honour the fallen, but remember war and its costs.

I saw a few memorials in Paris earlier this year for the 2 World Wars; the 1st in La Gare du Nord, the 2nd outside the Musee d'Art Moderne. Both beautiful and haunting, leaving me to reflect then, as I do now, on the futility and tragedy of war.

May we never forget the sacrifices made by others.

I still want everyone to be able to be treated fairly, have a healthy and happy life, and have the default way of treating others to be with kindness and empathy.

That won't change, but the world is doing its damnedest to numb me out.

Heck, I am still GM'ing the Abomination Vaults Pathfinder rpg game, but hoping I can finish before I just spiral out and can't GM anymore.

I am posting more video game or similar nonsense these days, as the constant stream of danger from our own governments, plus the facism in the US, has really done a number on my well-being (as has many of you too).

I have always wondered/worried about going back and rereading some of the books I read in high school. This is living justification of those worries.
