I do so much *breathing* in the summerโ€”and thatโ€™s it, isnโ€™t it? Thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m missing the rest of the year, I think? Just having the time to notice where you are when youโ€™re there, & to feel gratitude for your breath, your body, and the simple beauty that this world has tucked away within it. ๐ŸŒ… ๐ŸŒฒ

Ch 1โ€™s dive into SEL & its compatibility w steps of info lit also has me thinking ab the struggle some 2๏ธโƒฃary students have w owning ๐Ÿ†™ to their emotions (& sometimes even naming them), much less seeing emotional reflection as a step to reasoned action. How helpful that would be for all of us, really.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

That a cause for pause is just thatโ€” an invitation to stop, think, & evaluate before moving forward. Has me wondering if/how we could incorporate last yearโ€™s social trend of red, beige, & green flags here ๐Ÿšฉ โฌ‡๏ธ

08.07.2025 12:40 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Another note from ch 1 that I didnโ€™t fit into the visual but felt was important: authors reiterate that just bc info sources may contain emotional triggers doesnโ€™t mean theyโ€™re ๐Ÿ’ฏ% untrustworthy, & I think kids struggle w that gray area sometimes. โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿ”‘ takeaways from ch 1 of Developing Digital Detectives. ๐Ÿ’™ing the balance of background info (like how marketing strategy transfers to journalism & the breakdown of the wall between newsrooms & advertising w/I journalism spheres) w/ practical application (actual resources!) of stepped lessons #TLSky

Read Rec Rachel: Books to Rec and Read for Recc-ers and Readers Dealing with Burnout Itโ€™s May! Summer Reading is almost upon us, the birds are chirping (probably), and some of our brains need some shuteye. I wasnโ€™t sure who that last one could possibly be referring to other than the f...

Book burnout is not unfamiliar to most of us working to match people up with their perfect readโ€“there is a constant stream of new releases that all sound great and backlist books that have been on that TBR list for years and backlist books youโ€™ve just found out about.

Love this ๐Ÿ’ญ โžก๏ธ โ€œThere may be two sides to every story, but not every side has earned the right of critical debate.โ€ Itโ€™s a line we often feel forced to walk in our exceedingly dichotomous culture, but factsโ€”and falsehoodsโ€” do exist. โฌ‡๏ธ

For ex., the days of teaching URL domain ID as a ๐Ÿ”‘ strategy for source evaluation feels a bit like weeding a nonfiction section that hasnโ€™t been touched in awhile, & yet kids will inevitably throw that out as a first response when Iโ€™m opening a research source credibility lesson. โฌ‡๏ธ

Trump's โ€˜Big Beautiful Billโ€™ Will Devastate Public Schools The budget package currently includes a private school voucher program funded through tax breaks.

"We urge lawmakers to drop the private school voucher program from the spending bill and keep it out of the final budget package...it will set us on a dangerous course back toward a pre-civil rights era reality, defined by deliberate racial segregation and extreme disparities in school funding..."

A collage of book covers for titles read during the month of June: God of the Woods; Bye Forever, I Guess; Anxious People; Mid-Air; Atmosphere; The School for Invisible Boys; And Then, Boom!; The Many Lives of Mama Love; Homegoing; Not Nothing; and The Murmur of Bees.

An infographic depicting various aspects of my June reading life, including number of books read (11); number of pages read (3,830); and average rating of the books (3.83). My highest rated reads were Anxious People (4.5); Bye Forever, I Guess (4); and Atmosphere (3), and their book covers are displayed alongside their ratings. There is a pie chart depicting my fiction (91%) to nonfiction (9%) breakdown, and a bar graph showcasing the number of titles by genre and/or category: middle grade (5), historical fiction (4), literary (3), mystery (2), and LGBTQIA+ (2). Another pie chart shows my print (55%) vs audio (45%) dispersion, and another chart displays my pages read per day. The last chart, however, is inaccurate, as I donโ€™t record daily pages read in StoryGraph, the app that created the infographic.

Wherever she leads, Iโ€™ll go.โœจ Morning rituals are cleansing, & I hate that my favorite oneโ€” walks in public parks w my dog, Juneโ€” goes away each year when school starts.
