I do so much *breathing* in the summer—and that’s it, isn’t it? That’s what I’m missing the rest of the year, I think? Ch 1’s dive into SEL & its compatibility w steps of info lit also has me thinking ab the struggle some 2️⃣ary students have w owning 🆙 to their emotions (& sometimes even naming them), much less seeing emotional reflection as a step to reasoned action. How helpful that would be for all of us, really.🤷🏻‍♀️

That a cause for pause is just that— an invitation to stop, think, & evaluate before moving forward. Has me wondering if/how we could incorporate last year’s social trend of red, beige, & green flags here 🚩 ⬇️

Another note from ch 1 that I didn’t fit into the visual but felt was important: authors reiterate that just bc info sources may contain emotional triggers doesn’t mean they’re 💯% untrustworthy, & I think kids struggle w that gray area sometimes. ⬇️

Book burnout is not unfamiliar to most of us working to match people up with their perfect read–there is a constant stream of new releases that all sound great and backlist books that have been on that TBR list for years and backlist books you’ve just found out about.

Love this 💭 ➡️ “There may be two sides to every story, but not every side has earned the right of critical debate.” It’s a line we often feel forced to walk in our exceedingly dichotomous culture, but facts—and falsehoods— do exist. ⬇️

For ex., the days of teaching URL domain ID as a 🔑 strategy for source evaluation feels a bit like weeding a nonfiction section that hasn’t been touched in awhile, & yet kids will inevitably throw that out as a first response when I’m opening a research source credibility lesson. ⬇️

The 💭 that traditional approaches to information literacy are lacking is spot-on & the need to educate today’s adults & teaching force (myself included) in new approaches is critical ⬇️

I’m reading this in print right now! Still in the beginning, really, but am feeling the tingly excitement of the journey I know is coming 😆
