Update: they did not leave the chairs. In fact at one point they took two chairs off then immediately brought two slightly different chairs back on 🙃

The chairs can be on stage even in scenes where no one is sitting in them! Just leave the chairs!!!

I am an an Amateur Theatre production where about half the run time so far has been people slowly moving chairs on and off stage while the lights are out
