MKBS, a proposed Soviet space station cancelled in 1974. This was to be the centerpiece of a broader initiative called MOK, which envisioned a whole system of orbital complexes with the MKBS acting as the central hub for crew transfers and control.

Blender screenshot of my Archer-class starship with a cel shaded look and rough line art that approximates a hand-painted style.
I'm always surprised when anyone asks me for advice on making cel shaded renders as I'm very much still learning #Blender3D myself and scraping by on tutorials. 😅
But of course, everyone needs to start somewhere, so here's a thread with what I've learned so far and some good tutorials I've used! 🧵
they should make a movie series about how it’s irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit

This photo of the Varda W-5 re-entry capsule landed in the Australian desert reminded me of an old (2013) render I did for Eye's Turned Skyward of an ESA cargo capsule.

I didn’t have a chance to try an actual CRT monitor so I tried to figure out out to make it as accurate as possible

I love the film 2010, but this aspect really annoyed me. We literally saw Floyd tell Bowman that HAL knew about the monolith in a recorded message in 2001.

something worth remembering: graduates already pay a tax on the benefits of going to university. it's called "income tax". the government takes 20-45% of the increased earnings resulting from your university education.

Olympus Mons or simply Mount Olympus to most modern Martians is about as true to its name as you can be. Vaulting 22km into the sky and with a base 624km wide, larger than the Terran state of Arizona...
Is this a state of a Martian federal republic, or is it a US state that happens to be on Mars?
