The Aztecs 2/2
The first image here (from Episode 4) demonstrates one of the difficulties with some of this early material - the highlights are so blown-out there's very little picture information for one side of Hartnell's face. I've done my best with it!
The last in this little series of colourised frames:
The Aztecs 1/2
I haven't done so many from this story as they're so fiddly to do!

I've always quite liked this story, though apart from the spaceship it's probably been the hardest to create colour schemes for!
Ah I did wonder if that prop might have appeared elsewhere (tbh I didn't do an exhaustive search)
Anyway here's how it looks in those colours - though it does seem rather darker in Seeds so it may have been repainted, who knows!

(Just to reiterate: these are just stills colourised for my own amusement, they are not indicative of any future project official or otherwise)
Several people have asked to see more screengrabs from the new restorations on the Dr Who season 7 Bluray collection, so Iβll post some from an episode each day. Here is Silurians ep 1. Colour Recovery did not work so colour is smudgy from the NTSC Betamax off-air tape from 1977.
05.01.2025 23:19 β π 129 π 17 π¬ 11 π 2Initially I tried putting strong colours in the costumes since there isn't much in the sets - but with lots of characters on screen a brighter colour can indeed get distracting!
(Hence the pastel greenish colour being my main choice)

01.01.2025 01:15 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Throughout work on War Games I'd sometimes colourise frames from other stories.
Mostly for fun, but with half an eye on a possible future projects - but since there's nothing immediately forthcoming I thought I'd share!
First up: Tomb of the Cybermen 1/3
There was a lot of discussion about those curtains!

(Or are you hoping to have all the DW blu ray restorations done by then?!)
