God I was so nervous to open that thread. DSA has a shaky rep on this issue

We will be doing subsidy in addition to #1. We *are* doing subsidy. At about $150-175k per unit at 60% AMI. That numbers doubled in the last 6 years. That means subsidy goes half as far, helps half as many families.

I would like people to actually pick one instead of moving the ball or inventing fake options. My sense is that a lot of people would pick 3 and I’d like their choices on the record.

When it comes to housing here are the choices:

1. Allow a lot more housing to be built by the market
2. Subsidize all the affordability (roughly 675 billion dollar price tag)
3. Accept a much higher rate of homelessness and the associated costs
4. Crash the economy (a la Trump)

I think about AI too much. I don’t think text based LLMs are revolutionary. But they are pretty much what search could have/should have been before it was gobbled up by ads. Which, I presume AI will be in the next 3-5 years, making it similarly unvaluable.
