British atrocities didn't stop 300 years ago. If you're old enough to remember IRA terrorism, then you're old enough to remember British Loyalist (backed by the British state, with intelligence, weapons and rampant state collusion) and British army atrocities.

Irish and qualifying Commonwealth citizens are not Britons. From looking at the attached pdf files they mean English, Scottish and Welsh people. (I don't think they ever poll in Northern Ireland.)

Used to be a warehouse operator where I worked that would feed a blank 6x4 inch label from the label printer, write his password on it and stick it to his desk under his keyboard. His keyboard was fairly wobbly from the size of the pile by the time he left.

My wife's favourite band. 14 years since we saw them. Was a great night then too.

In this thread, I will tell you, definitively, whether Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.

This way, you will be more informed when shopping for your wardrobe . ๐Ÿงต

Nasa intern loses job after accidental profanity-laced tweet to Space Council fellow A hopeful Nasa intern has lost the position before she even started after swearing at a member of Nasa's space council on X.

The Irish state changed name once. From Irish Free State to Ireland. Republic of Ireland is a description of the state, but it is not, and never has been the official name of the state.

I don't think we'd have had a choice - Allied High Command would have been calling the shots. It simply wasn't an option any Irish gvmt could risk, a potential for Civil War 2. Maybe a better ambassador could have offered a deal, but trust from the Irish gvmt was low. Covert support was provided

Anyone who thinks we could have joined the war is crazy. We were stone broke, had a tiny army with almost no weapons. We would inevitably ended up with British troops deployed on our soil, & Irish soldiers under the command of British generals, who less than 20years earlier were killing Irish people

Dev did visit the German ambassador to pass on his personal condolences to the ambassador on the destruction of his country. Dev felt the ambassador had behaved in an honourable manner (unlike the British & American ones who were utter shits, & the sources of some of the lies told about Ire in WW2)

Yes. FWIW, back in 2016 I anticipated (a) that the impossibility of the Brexit promise would lead to an angry blowback which the far-right would capitalise on; and (b) Ireland would take at least some of the blame for Brexit not turning out as promised.

I expected things to get much worse than โ€ฆ/1

Not just as a concept - the bars themselves are an Irish export in many cases. You order the design you want, and a while later a shipping container shows up with absolutely everything you need. The bar, all the decorations etc. A great little industry for the company that came up with the idea.

Potoooooooo or variations of Pot-8-Os (1773 - November 1800) was an 18th-century thoroughbred racehorse who won over 25 races and placed higher than some of the most prominent racehorses of his time. He went on to be an important sire, whose leading runners included Epsom Derby winners Waxy, Champion, and Tyrant. He is best known for the unusual spelling of his name, pronounced Potatoes.

There were never any ships on Great Ship Street. It's the wrong side of the castle to the river. It was originally Great Sheep Street and the name got corrupted over time.

The Gist: Age Verification is an Epic fail From the 21st July 2025, Irelandโ€™s regulator will be enforcing age checks at the door for social media sites in the EU. This is the Gist.
