We were finally able to locate him this morning, and he's in a detention center in Broward County.

These detention centers are extremely dangerous, and getting in front of a judge takes at least one month.

We're doing everything in our power to get him out of the detention center and, hopefully, back with us or at least in his home country through a voluntary deportation.

Even with a U.S. citizen petitioning they can still be detained.
These detention centers, like most prisons are highly dangerous. There’s a risk that they could be detained for a year.

Information is crucial. Learn your options. Seek legal counsel.

We got more info. Here are our options:

1. They stay in the detention center for a month and wait for the hearing. Where they could be deported to any country or detained.

2. They request “expedited removal” and pay all fees to go back to their home country. This request can be denied.

I understand the irony of searching for that on social media. I don’t know why I’m writing all of this… maybe I just need to get it out and know that the world isn’t as cruel and dark as it appears.

This is the most inhumane thing I’ve had to personally encounter. The hearts of my family are very heavy right now. I’m not looking for attention or sympathy. I’m begging for awareness, change, and basic decency amongst humanity.

Tomorrow, we’ll be packing up their things and attempting to find out where they’re being sent to. All of this due to an unpaid boating speeding ticket.

I’ve been blessed to live a fortunate life. I was born without ever worrying about where I would live or what I would eat.

This morning, a family member was taken away by ICE.

We have no idea where this person is being taken to, if we’ll ever see them again, or how they’ll be able to restart in a new random country with nothing to their name.
