After almost 20 years in industrial energy management, I can testify it's only a theoretical exercise.

Increased self consumption reduces the stress on the grid during feed in hours.
Flexibility=|=demand reduction.
Efficiency also works on darker days.

We also saw "pluralistic ignorance": MOST PEOPLE SUPPORTED NON-CAR TRAVEL, BUT THOUGHT THEY WERE THE MINORITY! 65-69% said they support non-car travel more than other people, which can't be true. Does the majority assume their own view is odd and so go quiet in debate, thus enabling loud minorities?

NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.
