New paper out: How AI could enhance biodiversity in energy planning?
We analyzed wind projects in Austria - found huge data gaps in environmental assessments. AI-supported biodiversity monitoring (bioacoustics, camera traps, eDNA) could change the game.

Intra-guild competition and ecosystem services of mammal scavengers in a new colonized wolf landscape - Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology Carcass utilization by scavengers is crucial for ecosystem dynamics, influencing energy transfer and nutrient cycling. Through the provision of unconsumed carcasses, the return of wolves (Canis lupus)...

Brogi: wolves kill fallow deer, then only return to eat 3% of carcass. Wild boars eat 80% of what's left. For those still unaware of how wolves in Europe are different from those in North America, check Fig. 1: this is happening 3 km from the leaning tower! link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Running #Deepseek with its Multimodal model Janus-Pro-7b locally is really crazy. I show this camera trap picture and ask: "Explain this picture. What animal species do you see?" See the answer in the follow up post. #tech4wildlife
