On this Trans Day of Visibility I'd like to share what has become my entire vibe for 2025. It just feels appropriate to the moment, for some reason? 👀

I'm more hopeful than I was in January but I'm not trusting to hope and being very annoying to all my left-leaning friends and acquaintances about voting.

Combine that with the fact a good chunk of folks here are more old-school conservative mennonites who very strongly support Ukraine and are *apparently* souring on Poilievre, this could seriously split the right-wing vote.

I'm very curious to see what's going to happen in my riding this year. It's Conservative country, but a long-standing BC Liberal/United MLA was refused the chance of running to replace the CPC incumbent so now he's considering running as an independent.

Like with most of our public policy, we prefer the piecemeal putting out of acute fires instead of systemically tackling chronic and preventable ones.

Having a queer hairstylist is the best and I will keep going to her as long as she's taking clients.

There is frustratingly little will and attention paid to trying to remedy the fact people with disabilities consistently live in poverty. It's pretty disheartening.

Disability in BC for a single person is about $1,500 a month, including a maximum housing allowance of $500. It's pretty much impossible to live off that, never mind if you have extra expenses due to disability.
