Currently on the SBF book, after finally getting around to The Big Short. SBF is started off shakily, but now that we're into the meat of the thing, seems to be picking up steam.

You're conflating "liberal paradigm" and "social contract" and "what's ethical" here. The social contract as it relates to the liberal paradigm (i.e. "what are the norms and expectations that makes a liberal society function") *DEFINITELY* includes "refrain from outright violence".

That's where the paradox arises.

But that is what the "I support ICE" guy is gloating about. He is saying "I am abiding by letter of the social contract, so I am protected by it, lol fuck you". You're not choosing to "understanding" that they decided they're not bound by it, you are *deciding* to exclude them from it.
