Every time I give thought about moving out of the area, I remember two things; I love this house, and how badly we broke our bodies when we moved here.

18.10.2025 21:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had this thought exercise recently.
For any given time period who is the most relevant comedian. There are some that are pretty obvious, like Eddie Murphy for most of the 80's. George Carlin pops in here and there. John Stewart for most of the 2000s. But the weird one is Dennis Miller...
BBC News has just gone paid subscription only.
In the market for a new gender neutral site to get a snapshot of world news.
Thereโs your problem right there.

I guess that's probably true for most surgeries, like it would be problematic if your heart transplant took a few days to come fully online.
"There I fixed it" is one of the douchiest phrases on the internet. Even if I agree with you my first reaction is to find a way to disagree.

Things that make you feel old...
WoW is only a few months away from being of age to drink in the USA.
The answer is 3-6 months, if at all. It's certainly better than the complete blind spot that got me to go to the hospital in the first place, but I'm uncertain if it's improving...and I'm worried that this is this is new normal...I just never considered that to be a possibility until now.
04.07.2025 15:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0...but sitting down and failing to write last night because I was too distracted by visual stimulus...I began to wonder, and you know, bother to look up what the recovery time is ...because I never thought to do that since I begin with the assumption that things will work out.
04.07.2025 15:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I begin with the assumption that things will generally turn out okay, and they have more often than not, and in ways that one might describe as lucky.
Up until yesterday I kept that viewpoint in regards to my stroke recovery, figuring that the vision issues would just go away eventually.
It appears as though I've done too many brain things today for my brain to continue doing brain things. Please refer to other brains for the rest of the day if in need.
03.07.2025 23:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One thing I want to note as a positive in this whole very very minor stroke situation (I had a vision dead spot, that is now 95% recovered), my boss has been great and was pushing to give me more time off than I asked for. No job is perfect, but I've been happy with Light and Wonder so far.

Meeting celebrities...or at the very least paying money to have a photog taken with a celeb.
Full disclosure, this might be because my only major celebrity encounter was Signorney Weaver calling me a raging egomaniac.
Second, Trajan's Column, because why the @#$% do you have Trajan's Column in your back yard?
Third, because I am a pop culture b!itch, one of Drew Struzan's movie posters...maybe Duck Tales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp because I feel like I could get away with that one.
I've been watching these shorts where someone asks people on the street "If you could own any piece of art, what would it be and why?"
I have 3 answers. First, the practical, anything I can sell for an exorbitant sum.

18.05.2025 19:49 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I guess what I'm getting at is that facebook never gave way to the thing that comes after. All my fellow larp weirdos have mostly just drifted out to a Discord island, never to return, with very little in the way of communication with other civilizations.
We lack for an agreed upon crossroads.
Yes...Discord exists, and it's mostly useless noise (beyond 6 or so people...and even then). It's a system where sometimes you walk away for 10 minutes, come back to 50+ posts and give up on life.
It doesn't feel like a community so much as it feels like endless AIM group chat.
Social media isn't dying, but...
I've gone through a variety of online communities over the years. LiveJournal, Xynga, MySpace, facebook...some communities died off, some transitioned to a new platform, but there was never just a complete lack of community...until now.
I understand this completely.
