This is often a @dlknowles.bsky.social point but at some point progressivism has to come to terms with the fact that there are only about two dozen billionaires in Illinois, so “tax the wealthy” actually means stuff like putting an extra $1.50 on the Uber someone hires for their fast food meal

Remember: the Senate already passed a transit bill FIVE months ago.

I have Thoughts™ about its contents and process of getting there, but they did in fact pass a bill with transformational reforms and a full funding package that the House could vote on literally any time.

Two things of note, one, they were literally about to throw someone to the ground & potentially seriously hurt them based simply on the color of their skin, and two, how were they so comically bad at it

genuinely so disappointed by this decision. Gardiner fell prey to the NIMBY nonsensical rationale at the public meeting with no regards for much needed revitalization that *everyone at the meeting wanted*
