DART's Silver Line is finally open! The silver line cuts across the northern suburbs of Dallas from East Plano to DFW airport, speeding up trips between suburbs and finally bringing rail service to Addison.

Just received this statement from Rep. Kam Buckner, co-sponsor of the House transit reform/funding bill. He says the reports of his legislation's death have been greatly exaggerated. πŸ˜ƒ

This is often a @dlknowles.bsky.social point but at some point progressivism has to come to terms with the fact that there are only about two dozen billionaires in Illinois, so β€œtax the wealthy” actually means stuff like putting an extra $1.50 on the Uber someone hires for their fast food meal

Remember: the Senate already passed a transit bill FIVE months ago.

I have Thoughtsβ„’ about its contents and process of getting there, but they did in fact pass a bill with transformational reforms and a full funding package that the House could vote on literally any time.

Today, we brought the train to Springfield to deliver nearly 20,000 petitions to legislators urging them to get the job done NOW.

Transit cannot wait. Legislators cannot continue to kick the can down the road. It is time to fix and FULLY FUND transit.

With time running short in the General Assembly’s fall veto session, Illinois House Democrats began pushing Tuesday for their own plan to provide an overhaul of the Chicago region’s mass transit systems.

Next speaker says the opponents of the upzoning are spreading fear and misinformation, but the upzoning represents hope - safer streets, more CTA riders, more funding, more affordable housing.

I am at city hall for the zoning landmarks and buildings standards. Broadway upzoning day.

First speaker says the small buildings on Broadway "make Chicago chicago" and are threatened by the zoning change.

As always folks, buildings don't make places, people make places

On National Coming Out Day, know that I will always be an ally to you β€” no matter where you are on your journey.

I know that times may be scary, but you are seen, safe, supported, and loved here in Illinois.

Someone in train car is eating a prepackaged ramen noodle. Just biting into the uncooked ramen.

I think this is the least safe I have ever felt on the CTA. something is unspeakably wrong here.

A dark poster with bold white headline: β€œTHIS MAN WANTS TO RAISE YOUR TAX BILL.” Below, body text says that a city alderman denied a proposal for 48 new homes in Edgebrook, which the poster claims pushes the city’s tax burden onto existing middle-class homeowners. Center image shows a smiling, bald man in a gray suit and blue-and-white checkered tie, holding papers in what looks like a council chamber. Large closing line reads: β€œTHANK HIM FOR THE GARDINER TAX WHEN YOUR NEXT BILL COMES.”

genuinely so disappointed by this decision. Gardiner fell prey to the NIMBY nonsensical rationale at the public meeting with no regards for much needed revitalization that *everyone at the meeting wanted*
