BSBI New Year Plant Hunt

Our dream team of Ambroise, Barry, Martin and myself searched through Saltburn on the 2nd of January. Despite the bitter wind we did find an amazing 63 species in flower our highest total yet. We are currently in the top 20 in the UK.

@ambroisebaker.bsky.social Have you any suggestions for this plant found by Wendy English growing in the Beaver enclosure. To me it looks like Bidens cernua. The sessile leaves seem to suggest that. No achenes though. What do you think? There are only three records in VC62 of B. cernua

Having looked at the plant again I agree with you about it being rubrum as it’s not showing any signs of a cordate base to the leaves.

It could be but it is quite stunted it was raining heavily when I noticed it may go back and have another look. I found what looks like Chenopodiastrum hybridum on the sea wall near the car park in Saltburn.
