I feel like Matthau doesn’t have the legacy status he deserves. Man had a lasting / impactful career of really diverse work. They don’t make them like that anymore.

What do they put in couches that can’t find their way into a bed?

Get on the couch at 10pm and it’s like a direct shot of NyQuil. Get into bed at midnight and it’s like a double nitro latte syringed between my toes.

I rewatched this last week and fell in love with it all over again. One thing that was VERY evident to its uniqueness speaks to your point - they all LOVE what they’re doing; they’re not broken individuals working through personal issues through a case; they just want the world to be a safer place.
