I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Has anyone taken into account that this experiment will end badly and probably much sooner than anyone suspects? These people can't help but trip over themselves the second they get drunk on power.

I heard the Mothman was actually several owls wearing a Mothman costume.

I kept on trucking myself and I'm currently slogging through (checks notes, ugh) Bloodties. BUT. It's not as bad as 12 year old me remembered. The Avengers cool-kid-leather-jacket era is actually kinda fun.

For real. Longshot was such a fun Nightcrawler replacement! I came on board with the adjective-less launch in ‘91 but started a read-through of Uncanny a few years back and the mid-to-late ‘80’s were a breath of fresh air. Trial of Magneto through Inferno was incredible.

Absolutely boss lineup. Loved that iteration of the team.

Ditko & Kirby took a while to grow on me when I was a kid (got into comics during the end of the Image guys at Marvel era) but gosh their stuff rules. Their art is alive & contains elements of pop art that you didn't see at DC at the time. Not to knock what was going on there but this sings.

Dude had the pitchforks out for him before so I kind of understand his hesitation.

Oh, the backlog...

I'd argue no, because it certainly has taken a toll on mine and my colleagues mental health when we took our turn on the book challenge carousel recently.

Just from the picture from the article; Wicked, A Clockwork Orange, Perks of Being a Wallflower, & Maas (heavily circulated) have all checked out in the last couple of weeks. It being October now, King is flying out the door. We've banned cellphones this year and circulations are through the roof.

3. One plus though, is that challenges and bans do inspire discussions about free speech and ignite a fire in the youth in our town to stand up to bans, challenges, and the bullies that push them.

2. Many of the students in my district not have the means to travel to the public library and we don't have affordable bookstores in our community. Forget about online ordering, it's not going to happen when parents are struggling to pay utilities.

1. Speaking for my own school library, there is a chilling effect that causes students to question what they can read and whether we even have certain books in the library and a rise in self-censorship when ordering.

Thank you so much for sharing this. You've got a big reach and it is appreciated. My colleagues and I just made it through a push to ban materials in our school libraries and every bit of sharing information helps.
