I just listen & ask probing questions that give them an opportunity to explain how they arrived at that conclusion & me a chance to understand how well informed this person may or may not be. In my experience, it’s usually people stuck in a social media bubble with the most to say & the least intel

I would love this. I study ore deposits in the Superior Province. The subprovince most of my research focuses on extends into Canada. It’s full of so many economically important mineral resources. I’ve found them on the US side but if I can’t get a job to keep researching 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is on my bucket list. Utah in general is on my bucket list. So many amazing hike’s I want to do. I need to find a group of folks who love to hike and would let a nerdy geophysicist tag along 🥺

No, we need this. EarthScope is MUCH more than what is being presented here. I use it for Lidar images and boredata that is absolutely fundamental to all our exploration research. It is completely open source datasets! That’s so impossibly hard to find in the scientific community. Wow.

I use PowerPoint to design them and I let our department admin print it on the “big printer” otherwise I’ll mess it up and she will be angry with me. I’ve seen the fabric ones at GSA before and those are neat. Good luck & have fun! I’ll be giving a talk at the sectional meeting in Conway

I am a geophysicist. I’m often wrong lol. It’s part of the job. If you want to right most of the time, be a mathematician. Science is about learning & discovery. We are curious. Sometimes you get an answer. Most likely though, if you’re lucky, someone will stand on your shoulders and figure it out.

Mine is all political related public meltdowns. I honestly joined because I thought I could connect with other scientists and interesting people and dish about our research/hobbies/adventures etc. I might just stick with IG and hope my fellow nerds find me.
