Naw, the Italians just used spices to fuel their trains, so he had them running on *thyme*. :p

Mido must be terrified that he'll impose Saria Law on Kokiri Village. :p

Body transformation sounds like it can do rather more than merely lose weight. Like, call it that if you can turn people into goblins or foxgirls or giants or something, not just "lose 30 lbs".

My recommended bandaid solution is a Firefox-based browser with uBlock Origin. Can't see poorly targeted ads if you can't see (most) ads. :p

I suspect the algorithms look for key words but don't get the context, or they look at demographic information without context. Unfortunately the "solution" they have is more sophisticated AI, not "stop targeting ads".

This is likely the 309th comment. There've been 168 reposts so far. And *4* likes. That's an insane ratioing.

And it's 100% justified too. Elon Musk's "leadership" isn't worth a counterfeit nickel, let alone the entire GDP of Switzerland. WTF is your editorial desk thinking?

Generally, they either have poor media literacy, never fully internalized stuff they saw as a kid, or just completely turn off the ability to judge things when watching media. Same problem with a lot if cyberpunk fiction where "unchecked capitalism bad" is drowned out by the cool aesthetic.

Windows 3.1 had a Hot Dog mode with a suitably eye-searing red and yellow color scheme.

Kinda funny how the Soviet-Chinese friendship posters from before the Sino-Soviet Split look like a gay couple who tend a collective beet farm together or something. History will say they were comrades, of course. :p

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Zohran Mamdani is going to implement Tilapia Law in NYC, and while this legislation will be pretty mild, critics will still say there's something fishy about it

the story of this shutdown is that Trump and the Republicans have played the politics significantly worse than Chuck Schumer and folks that's a genuine accomplishment

I may be failing masculinity so hard I'm probably agender or something, but it seems to me "traditional masculinity/femininity" has been conflated with some sort of fscked-up 1950s suburban cosplay. Like, work from hone is good if it means more time to care for family, right? Apparently not?!

I don't think this will effect Houston much- they're just running the F through the 53rd St tunnel with the E and the M through the 63rd St tunnel. It mostly affects Queens Blvd, hopefully for the better?

I find it funny because Virginia has a ton of independent cities...and the secession map includes few if any of them, leaving a bunch of little VA city dots in WV.

Nominal GDP as of early 2025, per the IMF via wikipedia: www.imf.org/en/Publicati...
$10 trillion is significantly more than the GDP of any one nation not named "The United States of America" or "People's Republic of China".

Newspapers reported about the Tunguska explosion in 1908 despite it taking place *in the middle of Siberia*. London, Paris, Rome, getting buried in mudslides would get rather more notice in 1900 - both the Economist & the Wall Street Journal already existed for goodness' sake!

By 1900, *movies* were a thing. So were sound recordings. Telegraph wires criscrossed the ocean. Newspapers had existed for centuries, some of the same are still in print today. Radio was about to burst onto the scene. Modernish mass media was a thing in 1900!

Maybe it's a sign that I'm Not That Strongly Gendered, but I see it as stupid good odds for $1 million. Like, 99%? And the 1% consequence doesn't involve killing me or a puppy or something? That's crazy good, I'd press it like 4-5 times so I'd never have to work again, schmuck or no schmuck.

Living in suburbs with minimal public transit, poorly maintained or nonexistant sidewalks, & in places with brutal winters and/or summers gives people the idea that cars are a necessity & bikes are toys.

That said, brand new fullsize pickup trucks are ridiculous, they've always been very long but they have been getting taller & with larger grilles that, among other things, interfere with line of sight. Modern ones are huge.

Looks like a Toyota Aygo (or its Citroen/Peugeot equivalent), small by EU standards (A-segment IIRC) vs a Chevrolet Suburban, huge even by US standards. Most Americans don't drive anything quite that big (and if they do it's usually a pickup truck, not an SUV).

Even online you sometimes get people with esoteric or contrarian beliefs. Or just vote for the celebrity name, have one pet issue, didn't vote Harris only out of sexism, or just answer exit polls weird to mess with people. Not everyone has a cut-and-dry ideology.

The far-right impulse has, for a very long time, been to assume traditional societal status is "natural". Therefore, they believe that women naturally want to be subservient to men, unless they are deviant or deceived. They do the same thing with sexuality, race, & even class too.

An extremely brain-cooked TERF-to-Esoteric-Nazi already did that unironically in his webcomic, but less Communist and more trans/queer/generally "woke".
