I've started to make more environmental design choices as well as more level content. Close to where I previously was when I decided to redo all the content around 2 months ago. Soon ill be doing more set dressing and showing off more level gameplay.

Thank you for making Undertale! I was part of the younger generation that grew up when this game initially released, and indie game dev is now a crucial part of what I want to pursue with my art, and life.

Its hard to put into words but there is an impact, beyond the notion of a commercial success

This is procedural animation blended with normal animation.

I got a turn-in-place system for the character, and some legs of a robot that moves through a control rig.

Also am adding/tweaking more movement mechanics. More on that later lol.

Made further environmental/lighting changes, and added a new teleportation mechanic that isnt as abrupt.

Its hard to make environments because everything has to complement well, but Im learning a lot

Bouncy tightrope lol

Works well with the cloth simulation i have on my character, and you can even have ranged attacks on it.

Did some animation work as well for the walking on tightrope.

Nah, don't listen to that ๐Ÿ’€, it's clear that people (including me) are interested, and they weren't gonna buy it anyways. Plus the level design and aesthetic looks well balanced, and I love the early 2000s style. Keep it up, cuz I'll very likely buy a copy ๐Ÿ‘

Been focusing on composition and lighting to space things out better visually
Also added a subtle depth of field effect whenever you zoom in close to the character. (That took forever)

Going to focus more on making more levels now before I do more environment work

10) This summer I hope to achieve that goal of progressing my game to a state where it has a solid demo and a good pitch for it. The good thing is that a have a clear envisionment on how the story is going to be presented, so I don't plan to redo anything major anymore.

7.5) Of course, the game also wont be for everyone as well naturally. So I also have to be mindful of feedback based on whether someone is a potential customer, or just wouldn't enjoy the platforming gameplay and stylized visuals regardless. (Anyways...)

7) At some point though, I realize that no matter how much time I put into any part of the game, it will not be perfect and theres always room for improvements. Yet that goes with anything, and I eventually want to finish this and work on other games.

6) It is the most important part and my current priority to specifically work on the beginning, because if people don't want to play the first section, then the rest of the content will mean absolutely nothing because they would leave and not play again.

5) As for my game right now. There are 5 worlds to be made, and with the most recent update changing the whole games content, I basically have to redo the entire game with the newer systems, so I am working on the beginning section of the first world to better introduce you to the further content

4) While it is hard knowing that my favorite game genre is very likely not commercially viable to pursue, my concern is not of those factors that I cannot directly control, but rather how good/enjoyable of a game experience I can create regardless.

3) I am fine with how long the process will take, and how the genre I am choosing (3D Platformer) is likely a bad choice of game to make due to low demand and high development needs, which will mean that the expected outcome from conception until release is a low amount of interest and sales

2) The game has gone through 3 major design changes throughout the first year of development when i first pursued it commercially. All of these changes basically restructured the ENTIRE games content, increasing development time, but also increased the bar of quality to where I want it

1) In the event that there would be potential press/media looking and playing through my game, I would want the impression of the store page and demo to feel more complete, which i am currently not at that stage yet. So that does make me think about the scope of the game

Not sure if its something with the compression, but the audio is really artifacting at least for me. Wish there was a way to preview before i upload stuff, but ill look into audio more in the future lol. (It likely has to do with how i just increased the volume a LOT in a video editor)

Here's a new 2d facial rig I just made, that works with a dialogue system. This works with morph targets as well, so I can have both 2d and 3d faces that talk through the same system.

Really like the dialogue interaction UI and the dialogue box/font. It compliments well with the games art style and looks clean. (Not to mention the 2d eyes on the bird!)

I experimented with cloth+bone simulation and applied it on my character. It's a small thing but details like that make add up to make the animation more cool basically. As long as it isn't overpowering ofc and the base animations are ok.
