Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

Unfortunately no Lochcarron Kirk Session minutes appear to have survived for the likely period so no obvious way to check.

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation case, and the UK won 16 of them. Quitting will make no material difference to immigration, just weaken protections for absolutely everybody in this country. But Farage and the Tories know that.

It is indeed. Once I saw the grave, several years ago, I had to get the back story. Could have been a forgotten woman. Guessing the wooden marker is still maintained. The minister Lachlan Mackenzie seems to have written a booklet about her archive.org/details/fast...

Irmtraud Morgner (1933 – 1990) was a magnificent writer who consistently fought against gender hierarchies, was not well-regarded in the GDR, struggled with censorship, but did not want to leave East Berlin. May her books be immortal!

Being accountable to an international court means our Government has to answer to them if it tries to undermine your human rights. Be very suspicious of any UK politician who wants to remove that check on their powers.

Share this and speak up for your freedoms.

We still carve turnips (neeps) in Scotland though pumpkins are in the majority. Another transatlantic import.

Blustery day, isn't it? Here's the National Grid: Live generation data. Wind and solar are generating 74.2% of our electricity. Gas is generating 13.1%. And yet our household electricity prices are pegged to... the volatile price of gas. Which is the basis on which the right attacks... renewables.

From Skerray, #Sutherland, up on the north coast of Scotland a bilingual English/Welsh gravestone. Megan died 14 Dec 1995 aged 82, her Welsh important to the end. A probable compatriot Ardudwen Haf is also buried at Skerray. Wondering about the story. #31DaysOfGraves 4: Languages #Cymraeg

🍁🎻 SINGLE RELEASE 🎻🍁

My single “Autumn Leaves (Autumn 1)” is released today!

islaratcliff.bandcamp.com/track/autumn...

This track is about having fun in autumn - playing with leaves, foraging for brambles & eating crumble!

I enjoyed turning Vivaldi’s original melody into a polka! 🎵

A tall grey stone tomb, with a triangular lintel with a cross carved into it. A metal door sits in the centre of the tomb. Inscribed above the door is 'Famille de Gas'. On the door is a metal plaque molded with a self-portait of the painter Edgar Degas. His name is written around the outer edge of the plaque.

Yes. I wonder who commissioned them. I suppose the patterns don’t show the dirt too much so economically a good choice.

Day 3 of #31DaysOfGraves is 'tomb'.

I've chosen to share the wonderful tomb of Judge George Kempe (1606), his son John (1609) and daughter-in-law Elinore (1609).

All three lay side by side on top of the tomb and a side panel depicts John and Elinore's 14 children.

Stuck for a photo for #31DaysOfGraves - 3 tombs. So here’s the rather neglected #Mackenzie monument beside A835 Inverness-Ullapool. Commemorates Caroline Mackenzie daughter of Francis Lord Seaforth (1754-1815) chief of clan Mackenzie, from Brahan Castle. Brahan Seer prophesied her death seemingly.
