If you follow me and haven’t read Over the Edge 3rd ed, here is your chance to get it at half off as a fundraiser! It’s my best game writing ever.

Maybe you're thinking of the "gotta twist it out (I got the skills I got the skills)" part?

I've not watched that one in a while.
I dunno.
It might have aged better.

The Wheedon script doctoring and Reynolds banter maybe less so

It is. The Del Toro one.

It's ok, but immediately moves from street level Vampire hunter uncovers world shattering plot of Blade to an endless series of set piece fight sequences.

Like how John Wick 2 is a very different movie to John Wick.

The point is lost.

Watched Blade II last night.

Lads, it hasn't aged well.

Malcolm in the middle -There is no right sandwich-
YouTube video by juan uchiha Malcolm in the middle -There is no right sandwich-

We all love the "I like the wine, not the label" scene from Schitt's Creek, but are you aware of the "there is no right sandwich" scene from Malcolm in the Middle when both boys think the other is secretly gay and are trying their best to be supportive youtu.be/PMJybmR8ces?...

Chris is a standup guy who's donated books to our local mental health gaming charity, and his work is also the dogs bollocks.
Like a double threat; beautiful human being and talented.

You should buy some of his stuff.

Growing excitement at the prospect of starting a new Vampire game to fill my vacant Thursday night slot.

Lovely mix of traditional power fantasy characters and someone purposely making the least powerful character possible (Thin-Blooded)

34 years ago today, Barney Gumble and Wade Boggs got into a raucous debate over England’s greatest prime minister.

β€œHomer at the Bat” first aired on February 20, 1992.

Finally, the best player set up is either: group of stereotype teens who fall into a bad situation, or
Average Joe's who fall into a bad situation.

Does ghost stories and mysteries that don't require overt violence to resolve really well.
The combat system is functional, but not the point.

Simplified skill list.

Ok.
It's affordable.
It's a Gumshoe game designed for shorter horror and slasher genre games, but also does thriller and supernatural very well.
Original system was designed to be learnt and played within 15 minutes.

Based on what you've just outlined it's either:
Liminal (probably your best option)
A World of Darkness hack (using the nuWoD rules)
Fear Itself from Pelgrane Press (I think this is a strong suggestion)
A Vaesen Mythic Britain and Ireland modern day hack (which would be Liminal YZE)

Tabletop industry veteran Ryan Dancey loses Alderac COO job after saying AI can generate game ideas as good as some of his company’s designs - Dancey told BoardGameWire, "This tide is, in my opinion, only running one way, and AEG is going to have to fight hard to hold it’s [sic] position."

Since this thread started with how it started, it seems only fair to end with how it ended.

19.02.2026 14:53 β€” πŸ‘ 16    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Dancey’s impact was really interesting to me, because I am intimately familiar with how opening up an RPG was prior to the OGL. It was flawed, but it was light years ahead of other options (creative commons wasn’t yet suited, and most other open licenses were software specific).

That solely produced 3rd party OGL content during the D20 boom.

That's not bullshit, that's facts conflicting with your bias.

Paizo are and were complicit. The fact that they've moved to ORC after the second rug pull doesn't make them less so.

19.02.2026 14:08 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

For a Paizo fan account, you really need to learn about their history.

They were a publisher producing D&D content using the OGL in monthly magazine format under licence to WotC.

Saying they weren't a tabletop publisher at the time is pretty naive.
