Same happened with my husband. Had 2 cats, went overseas for a year and couldn’t breathe from his allergies to them when he came back. It never improved and even worsened over the years.

Rabies surveillance in the United States during 2023 Abstract Objective Describe the epidemiologic landscape of rabies and rabies testing in the US during 2023 and provide an overview of rabies in Canada and Mexico. Methods The US National Rabies Surveillance System collects monthly animal rabies testing data from 54 reporting jurisdictions. Data reported in 2023 were analyzed geographically and temporally to explore trends in animal rabies cases by rabies virus variant. Results In 2023, 3,760 cases of animal rabies were reported to the National Rabies Surveillance System (4.2% of 89,530 samples submitted), representing a 5.1% increase from 2022. Of positive samples, 309 (8.2%) were domestic animals, and 3,451 (91.8%) were wildlife. Cats (222 [1.2%]) and bats (1,298 [5.1%]) followed by raccoons (1,085 [10.4%]) were the most frequently found rabid domestic and wild animals. No human rabies cases were reported in the US, Canada, or Mexico in 2023. Conclusions While a year with zero human rabies cases reported in North America represents a major success of public and animal health programs, the danger of exposure to and dying from rabies is still present. Translocation events pose a unique risk, highlighted by events during 2023. Due to the response of public and animal health agencies, the health of the public and local animals was protected. Continued effort to maintain One Health reporting mechanisms is key to the security of public and animal health. Clinical Relevance The National Rabies Surveillance System plays a crucial role in protecting public and animal health by monitoring rabies trends in the US.

Depending on where you live in the world, rabies can be pretty prevalent. It kills tens of thousands of people every year - but yes rabies in the US is uncommon. Fortunately we’re still getting data about it. www.google.com/url?q=https:...

Even in our small suburb, we had probably 200 people carrying candles at a vigil for Ms Good.

Because the woman below survived, the Federal government was obligated to charge her with the crime she was allegedly committing when shot, meaning they had to investigate it. That investigation showed she was innocent.

Since Ms Good did not survive, they don't need to investigate what she did.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

The Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY is facing foreclosure by December 31st. The Paleontological Research Institution needs to raise $1 million or their collection of 7-10 million fossils β€” one of the largest in North America β€” gets scattered across the country.

This includes world-renowned Burgess Shale specimens, the most complete eurypterid ever found, and the Hyde Park Mastodon. Many fossils came from sites that are now paved over and can never be collected again.

The NYT just covered their fight for survival. If you've ever visited or care about preserving paleontological research, they're accepting donations of any size.

I know one of you has to have a billionaire’s phone number, $1m to save one of the best fossil collections in the country is a bargain. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/19/s...

Imagine being locked up in prison for 43 years for a crime you didn’t commit.

You’re finally exonerated at age 64 and Trump’s ICE immediately snatches you up to deport you to a country you haven’t lived in since you were 9 months old.

This is Subu Vedam’s story:

Ironic that you’re doing this program on Yom Kippur as Jews fast for 24+ hrs! The inside β€œjoke” is that our other holidays are summed up : β€œThey tried to kill us, we survived, let’s eat!” Many of my favorite food rituals are Judaic: apples & honey, latkes & oil, Seders, hamantaschen, & lox+ bagels!

He created a list of professors to harass/threaten/kill to curb free speech among minoritized professor and/or professors teaching about topics like race and gender.

He was never an advocate for free speech, he engaged in hate speech encouraging violence.

This man will not be fired for calling for the murder of American citizens, yet multiple journalists/reporters/teachers lost their job for accurately reporting things Charlie Kirk actually said and stood for.

But it’s the β€œviolent left” that’s the problem

After Charlie Kirk's death, teachers and professors nationwide fired or disciplined over social media posts At least a dozen faculty and staff have faced fallout over insensitive comments online.

I am having a hard time reconciling "Charlie Kirk was a fierce advocate of open dialogue and free expression" with "we must identify and persecute everyone who is insufficiently mournful"
