13.10.2025 02:18 β π 106 π 18 π¬ 5 π 4I thought Iβd have a go at answering the question: whatβs the flow on effect on emissions budgets from the methane cuts?
The answer was worse than I had anticipated

Ours was vocal about Labour's being the best water option & pro MΔori wards... she was outvoted by a farmer promising "common sense" & "cutting unnecessary red tape".
12.10.2025 21:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sadly CHB voted no :(
11.10.2025 04:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βAlmost 7 in 10 people in New Zealand supported lifting benefits in early 2021; and after the government increased benefits in 2021, 60% thought income support should have been increased further.
Itβs not the 1980s any more, as much as the Govt wants to drag us back there.β @maxdnharris.bsky.social
New Zealand is being run by a bunch of climate-denying ideological fuckwits who have destroyed state capacity and cut projects.... and funnily enough, its economy is in the toilet and people are suffering. Media capture of course means that we're pretending this will be good for us in the long run.
09.10.2025 22:34 β π 11 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0I agree that we should increase tax rates for wealthy people. Someone earning 300k (like our politicians) do not need govt funded super.
07.10.2025 21:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Every other benefit is income tested, by limiting it to those who are earning less than $70k it would be more affordable.
07.10.2025 19:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0I don't understand why they can't treat super and the energy payments like labour treated the cost if living payments as part of the covid recovery... if your income was above 70k you didn't get them... it didn't seem to be an issue with IRD administering those.
07.10.2025 03:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep. And many there are desperate for more a full time job rather than the 20-30ish hours available even when departments are shortstaffed
05.10.2025 20:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Perhaps MPs should be means tested
05.10.2025 18:55 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Yep, it's the same old "bash a beneficiary" or "lazy youf" rhetoric to gain a couple of votes.
Lazy Luxon chasing 4000 kids to save approx $1.3M year but won't chase Destiny church charitable trust or Gloriavale, with charities estimated to be avoiding $2.0B year in tax avoidance.
I laughed when I saw it... finally the chief cheerleader realising that the Nats can't budget for shit
02.10.2025 18:50 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0βWhile ministers will point to the previous government for creating the problem, the mismanagement of the solution is on their hands.β #nzpol
02.10.2025 18:11 β π 50 π 18 π¬ 0 π 0Every day there's a new reason to be ashamed and disgusted with our govt representatives.
26.09.2025 23:41 β π 63 π 16 π¬ 0 π 1So she's planning on reversing the asset sales returning GST to 12.5%? Or not like that?
25.09.2025 09:39 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Oh look, another Nat policy that's going to cost us all more!

Keep living your best life!
Is it really "fast-tracking" or "accelerating" when it's basically restarting some of the 100-odd projects you iced a year ago, putting the construction sector into a nosedive? www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...
22.09.2025 03:23 β π 251 π 73 π¬ 19 π 9I'd forgotten this piece by Fox Meyer. Shows the annual cost to the govt of treating acid mine leakage at a single coal mine is greater than the annual royalties paid by the entire coal industry. The NZ govt are putting huge funding into AI not because AI will be good for the country and its public institutions but because it presents itself as another way to βlegitimatelyβ move public money to the private sector.
