Running a fight against a monster you don't actually want your party to defeat can be very difficult in 5e. It's entirely possible that your party may win and consistently thwart your ability to set up future goals for them, or you may even go a bit overboard and TPK. A sneak peak ;)

Damn, being sick sucks.
But the script for the next video is done. All goes well (which it never does 🤣), I'll get it done tomorrow ready for this Thursday.

In the mean time, I'm planning on dropping something on the Patreon for free tomorrow to make up for the missed upload.

I'm lucky to consistently play with a group that knows my style: Linear introductions with open endings.
The party don't usually get to choose the situations they end up in, but they always have supreme freedom over how thr quest resolves.

GM Tip: Get buy-in on the campaign structure before you start. For example, if you aim to run a mostly linear campaign, that's totally OK, but everyone needs to be on board. Likewise, if you want to run a sandbox, make sure the players are OK with that.
