Once you go through the door marked ‘activism’, it’s a sheer drop; when you land, you discover that you've been in the wrong room all your life & there's a lot more doors (but no ‘exit’).. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnU6rUuUlzM #Nanas

Refuse more time for Lancashire frack site – planners recommend Officials in Lancashire are recommending refusal of a bid to extend the life of the mothballed Preston New Road fracking site near Blackpool.

[Cuadrilla said needed another year for groundwater monitoring to surrender an environmental permit + extra time to restore to pasture. This is 2nd try for extension. If county council votes against extension, it would be 1st refusal for Preston New Road in a decade.] drillordrop.com/2025/11/26/r...

💚 Very sad to hear of the passing of Jane Goodall. Her work and life’s mission championed conservation and the protection of our planet, and deepened our understanding of the natural world.

TUC Congress votes to support Zane’s Law The Law aims to improve public safety relating to contaminated land in the UK, under greater risk because of increased flooding events.

Such an important campaign; this grieving family has spent 11 years fighting for the truth, not only to obtain justice for Zane - but for truth that will protect all of us. #CleanAir #Landfill #TruthAboutZane #ZanesLaw

Fracking splits in Reform The controversial issue of fracking in Lancashire has divided Reform politicians in the county from their national leadership.

[..deeply concerning to imagine return to hugely damaging past. Residents/local workers/police/activists – all forced into situation of government’s making. 2019 moratorium stopped fracking & makes clear it can't resume unless proven safe; industry just can’t do that] drillordrop.com/2025/09/03/f...

Endangered – the remarkable water vole is making a comeback Predation, pollution, climate change and habitat loss made Kenneth Grahame's Ratty one of the UK's most endangered species. But wildlife trusts are on the case

From riverside holes to underground 'central heating'?

Water voles build burrows with composting chambers that generate warmth in winter.

Nature’s little engineers!

A society that doesn’t value life, care for those in need, regards healthcare as a luxury not a necessity, will ultimately not value the care givers, the providers & cut them

It will see life expectancy fall, distain for the poor & sick, value placed in material things instead

Ploughing & draining the Fens of Cambridgeshire creating an ‘illusion of food security’, says @tonyjuniper.bsky.social at Moor Meadows conference in Chagford, Devon - because the fertile peat soils are being lost & causing huge carbon emissions

No, sheep are not firefighters.

Nor do you ‘fight fire with fire’

You fight fire with *water*.

Re-wet our upland peat bogs - which have been badly damaged by burning, drainage & overgrazing - converting them to fire-prone monocultures of heather (north England) & molinia (Dartmoor, Bodmin)

For me, the right to protest... is the right to fulfil my obligations. I saw harms, engaged with protest and so became 'Activist' ...because trusting governments/industries/regulatory bodies etc. with the future, is clearly not an effective solution.

Yup. This list is why it’s very annoying when people say “Why didn’t Americans protest?” Most major US protests happened in the last decade! They resulted in almost no policy change because officials failed the people over and over. But the people did their part and made their dissent known.

If you are too young to remember the Iraq War, you'll hear "no one protested" and "no one knew they were lying." Millions of people knew they were lying and protested. The press not only did not want a record of mass dissent; they did not want a record of mass knowledge of lies.

Thames Water: Britain's biggest utility just got captured by toxic private credit markets No rescue. No reform. Just control - seized through debt. That's the state of Thames Water, as Waterways Protection writes

Thames Water is now controlled by two US credit powerhouses: Silver Point Capital and Elliott Management.

Their game - asset stripping, profiteering, slick PR, devour; to get high returns.

Govt can put an end by bringing water into public ownership, but refuses. People's misery to deepen.

Bonkers for Badenoch to argue that the windfall tax is an unfair burden on fossil fuel firms.

Shell literally paid NEGATIVE tax in the UK last year – receiving £12.4 million from the government.

‘Ticking timebomb’: sea acidity has reached critical levels, threatening entire ecosystems – study Ocean acidification has already crossed a crucial threshold for planetary health, scientists say in unexpected finding

The huge sums energy firms get to NOT provide power Could the government's radical plan to change the way the UK distributes electricity really bring down bills - or just lead to a postcode lottery?

Wonders of UK energy privatisation.

Not enough capacity to carry/store electricity.

On windy days, govt pays wind farms NOT to produce electricity. £500m this year, £8bn a yr by 2030.

Elsewhere companies are paid vast sums for emergency production.

Companies get ssubsidies, we get higher bills.
