Also many of the new character designs kinda blur together for me but they do seem to be cooking with Forever Young. Every time I parse her outfit there's some delightful new absurdity like her gold-chain necktie and the horrible way she mistreats her hat a la Tannhauser.

Poor Spe-chan had to take the fall as the trial balloon that led to real breakthroughs with the likes of Teio, Golshi, and Oguri Cap-as-in-peak. She makes a damn good foil, but she doesn't quite have the Main Character energy the designers probably hoped for on paper.

Paying for inspo re-roll sounds like a huge scam compared to re-rolling the blue/pink at the end (or the whites if you're doing like a Groundwork grind). Padding the chance of good Inspo is way more controllable via parent selection. The sparks at the end are MUCH less controllable.

Love where the finished characters ended up. Despite the forced low resolution they were all so easy to read visually against the background and each other. You learned well from the design example of Cloud and his pointy low-poly pals.

Screenshot of yet another gross red-and-green root-wall in Etrian Odyssey's bonus 6th stratum. To the right, on my minimap, you'll see a highlighted area with a bunch of tiny little hallways ending in a piss-yellow square. This is my way of marking the annoying warp tiles that are the main gimmick of this floor. Since I've never been here before, I am slowly trial-and-erroring each of these little nooks as I go through them, in pursuit of the one that WON'T whisk me off to a room that previously contained a big grumpy turtle (who, as with so many other things on this floor, I killed slowly and horribly with poison).

Ironically these guys are actually proving more helpful than annoying. With Venom + level 10 Healing song + level 10 MP restore song + Defend spam I can make back most/all of my HP/MP lost on other fights waiting for these crabs to die a horrible poison-y death. Not fast, but saves money.

Actually, shit. My (admittedly low-level) Ice spells do single-digit damage to them. It really IS going to be about putting up defense buffs, spamming Defend, and watching poison tick. Good thing Poison is nuts in this game.

My party (Klank the Protector, Kiri the Ronin, Blorch the Alchemist, Jingle the Troubador, and Twinkle the Medic) face off against two Ironcrabs. These jerks are some of the few enemies that have forced me to abandon my deep, nuanced gameplay style of "put up level 10 Bravery and spam physical attacks to shred almost everything in front of me". Their physical defense reduces my otherwise beautiful, highly technical Smite/Midareba/Multihit spam offense to mere chip damage, so I reluctantly benched my Survivalist and brought in an Alchemist to poison and then freeze them with magic. How DARE you make me engage with other game mechanics. How DARE you!

All right, you assholes. You've driven me to extreme measures I'd never wanted to resort to. You've forced me to use...magic. In a FANTASY game. I hope you're proud of yourselves.
