The Moderate Case Against Transgender Sports Bans Bans on transgender competition in sports tend to be controversial, with some even otherwise supportive people siding with such bans. I present the moderate case against doing so.

For anyone in Maine questioning the Principals’ Association decision and Janet Mills’ support, this worth your time.
Heck, everything that Erin writes is worth reading.

Too many people accept opinion as fact, or deem anyone capable of stringing together a complete sentence to be intelligent, which is why LLMs seem like a suitable replacement for the people around them.

You cannot negotiate with terrorists. If the Ivies give in to any regime demands, the goal posts will move. If the massive ivy endowments aren’t deployed to preserve institutional integrity and academic freedom, what on earth are they for?

Find a cool product on Amazon?
That company exists OFF Amazon, too.
1) Google company name.
2) Order from their site.
2a) Can usually find a 10% code!
3) Still get product in 2-8 days.
4) Company avoids losing 25% margin share to Amazon.
5) You avoid giving money to Bezos.

Out of 510,000 NCAA athletes, less than 10 are transgender. They are literally writing an executive order to target less than a hundred people nationwide. Republicans spent over $110 million in anti-trans ads on a made up problem.

late with this because i was running a fever and trying to cough up a lung, but Wednesday was the birthdate of Ralph Carr. for anyone who doesn't know that name, he was a great American.

Carr was the 29th Governor of Colorado, but that is not why he deserves to be remembered. quick 🧡.

New from me on what the rage and glee on public display after the killing of a healthcare CEO portends.

I suspect the corporate world will respond with more security and retreating even more into their gated lives.

They would be advised to read up on history.

It’s really heart breaking to realize just how much our short horizon, outcome focused funding cycles hurt science. We could do so much more if we could invest in people long term. Staff scientist positions and an ecosystem to support them are direly needed.
