People didn’t grasp this quote when I posted it on Twitter in 2014, but I think they’re finally starting to come around.

...and The Regime’s unambiguous assault on human rights, with all non-white in its crosshairs, makes that predisposition exponentially more difficult to maintain.

I agree there’s nothing anomalous about the events of the day. They're unfolding on a continuum of denial and accelerating degradation.

My perspective is framed through a history of seeing racial hatred discounted, often by white neoliberals, as secondary to greed. While both vices work in tandem, each can also be considered as distinct. White people, in my experience, are *far more predisposed* to acknowledging greed than racism...

With this regime, the racism - malicious, explicit and a core tenet of its existence - is proximate cause. Yes, exploiting people for profit is ingrained in its every action, but the extent to which it is rotten with racial hatred prioritizes injury and offense over kleptocracy, however slightly.
