You might think a house would run out of improvement-based History Boys references, but you WOULD be wrong. Natalie, goin strong! What a house!

One of the best parts of sustained friendships is you, too, can commit to the bit! Natalie is a very accommodating boss, she always sends in her orders with plenty of time to execute on her vision.

my third romance novel, SECOND HELPINGS, comes out in may! my books are FUN: they're made to make you feel like you're watching a rompy 90s romcom, but queer. also there is a dog in it named pastrami & i believe in my heart that if enough people read it, that dog will become real & come to my home

Genuinely haven’t figured out how to promote my writing on Instagram when several coworkers follow me there, but I do know that I *will* be keeping legendary goalie Manuel Neuer on my Close Friends list

every transphobic argument boils down to "in spite of the infinite variety of experience inherent to humanity, you are only allowed to be the kind of person we (a collection of miserable ghouls) say you should be." an amazing coincidence that every fascist argument boils down to the same thing

I tried to take a photo of a grasshopper on my windshield, but now it looks like a gigantic bug destroying the town.

Multiple friends have caught COVID recently, including some of my more cautious pals. There are a lot of winter germs in crowded places right now, fam. Personally, I never feel that shopping or riding transit unmasked is worth potentially getting sick. You can always renew this practice.

what if instead of every writer having an individual premium substack we had lots of writers working together for one publication. you might have editors, too, and designers. and only one regular fee, instead of seventy billion! wonder who will invent that. sounds like it’d be good

every time the pxp mentions the nhl while commentating on a women’s hockey game he should have to donate twenty bucks to a girls hockey organisation

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it

We’ve had an ongoing mess of a window replacement in a whole apt building & let me tell you, that window company did noooooooot like that my roommate is an architect who takes notes & asks for things in writing. Lotta questions they were not excited to answer!

I'm going to share a very good story about the internet. I won't tell it well because I apparently have the flu, but I think we all need a good story about the internet.

It starts in 2021, when I took a sabbatical and got a little workspace to write a design book.

when i give wired dot com $40 i get access to so many journalistsβ€˜ work, when i give my favorite writer $40 i only get that one person’s work AND i can only do that for like one person a year. it sucks!!!!

The Pitt got greenlit for a season 3, out next February, and the announcement has very funny comment from HBO chairman Casey Bloys that’s like β€œyeah, turns out if you just make a TV show like how we used to make TV shows you can have a 15+ episode season every year πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈβ€

Chotiner: Tell me what you found interesting about these vampires.

Documentarian: Well, it's just -- the group dynamics, I guess.

Chotiner: I can see that. I can see finding Nandor, Laszlo and Nadia entertaining.

Documentarian: Exactly.

Chotiner: So. How many people did you watch them murder?

I can’t stress this enough. The state of 4th Amendment law is that the cops can’t force you to type in a passcode but they can force you to swipe your finger or present your face. Never stop using passcodes/passwords to unlock your devices. And consider additional code to unlock Signal.

my snail van has very close to no computer and the carburettor (replaced in modern vehicles by electronic fuel injection) is designed in such a way that if you turn left too suddenly before it warms up, it starves the engine and you stall. only going left and only when cold. you want 5% computer.
