If the FCC hadn't leaned on CBS and CBS on Colbert, they would have aired a completely inoffensive and uninteresting interview with a Texas candidate to little effect.

Now it has international attention.

Not that I hold a grudge or anything....

You just have to feel how it will change, there's not one way to do it. It's a kind of dance...you change a step, or do a misstep, and you just sort of intuit the next step and fold it in so it doesn't look like you changed anything. At least that's how I handled it.

This right here is the peril and glory of social media; you say something about something and the person that actually knows something about something might just stop by and correct you.
