19.02.2026 20:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Gearing up for the start of MLS this weekend - very glad to have threads like this to get used to the new changes...
19.02.2026 20:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This whole thread, but this post in particular.
15.02.2026 01:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Where do I find this Kickstarter?
10.02.2026 14:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm totally here for threads reading the Super Bowl halftime show as a rich text.
Thank you for helping my world get bigger...
Next week many PBS stations are airing the documentary The Librarians---it highlights what librarians nationwide are up against when it comes to book banning. You can check the PBS website to find out when you can watch it on your local station. #libraries
07.02.2026 17:22 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0(One danger for me of a thread like this is the pressure to be comprehensive, and avoid omitting something important. I need to stop here, though. If you know me in real life and we get a chance to talk, I'd love to do so, and hear where you're at on these topics or others.)

I neither care about who appears in the files, nor about using the files to target any particular person. I have significant concern that people are using the files (and the victims whose abuse is detailed in them) as a Tool To Punish My Enemies - which just perpetuates problems.

I have only two interests when it comes to All Things Epstein:
A. What ever is needed to secure justice for the people victimized by he and his enablers.
B. Whatever transparency is needed to help illuminate - and change - the systems whose failure enabled abuse like this.

I feel pretty strongly that one of the first things we need when it comes to "border security" is to abolish ICE _and_ CBP, and design what we need instead.
Not reform, not better funding for training. Not (only) bodycams.
Dismantle and build what we need on new foundations.
Every so often I review how my social media posts reflect the things I'm thinking about, to make sure I'm portraying myself accurately. Not that I think mine is a crucial voice in _any_ conversation, but I also don't want to leave certain things unsaid which I think about a lot.

I feel this So. Hard.
Also, on some occasions (at least with my particular WFH cat) the cat will come mid-meeting and demand pets and attention. Do you have to deal with Zoom crashing as well?
Interesting thread / rumination on natural resources, how we "count" them, and its implication for a concept like "light pollution".
This resonates with me, in suburban Boston, who hasn't seen the Milky Way in years after seeing it plenty growing up in similar suburbs in Ohio.
Could you please provide a link to whatever platform this was posted to? Screenshots have their uses, but links do too.

28.01.2026 19:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just cannot imagine going to see a documentary where the subject of the film is also the executive director, with control over its ad campaign and trailer.
How is this a story worth engaging in?
I'm "looking forward to" the outrage when it receives no award nominations...
(Not that you don't know all of this, you've been here just as I've been - I just need to say it for myself)
21.01.2026 16:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This takes on special significance when it comes to homosexuality in soccer, when I remember that Robbie Rogers, David Testo, and Matt Pacifici all were on our roster. None were out while on our roster, and we need to do better.
21.01.2026 16:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep - it definitely feels at times like we're in a "despite" situation, and not "because of" or "thanks to".
One of the ways that I square this for myself is to remember that the fight to save the team came before the owners emerged. We were here first, and we'll be here after they have sold.
At least I've got the memories of 1999, when I managed to attend both the opener and the final.
19.01.2026 21:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I couldn't go to games in 1994 because I was working a residential summer camp that summer, and I've spent every World Cup since kind of wishing that I'd traveled to the tournament.
Now it is back, and between the exorbitant costs and the political backdrop, I find I just don't care at this point.
Reviewing the news this evening, I find myself wondering what the state of the East Wing of the White House is? There was a demolition, but the plans for what comes next are... Still being formed? I see the review board meeting this week was postponed?
17.01.2026 03:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a short thread, but the conclusion is becoming part of my mental health mantra.
The President hinting something doesn't make it so. We are a nation of laws, implemented by people across the country who do not report to him.
One objection to this argument is to recognize that today, January 14, 2026, is not "coming out of the gate". This conversation is not happening in a vacuum in 2003, but against a long history of repulsive actions that have gotten more flagrant even for moderates or low information voters.
14.01.2026 18:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I may need to read this thread once a week. I don't think I've fallen prey to this sort of behavior (I hope), but it is a very effective antidote to that temptation.
10.01.2026 23:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not to mention that you can't know ahead of time which angle will be the crucial one, should something go south. Having multiple witnesses, from different angles, raises the chance that someone will catch the important details.
09.01.2026 17:26 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nancy really has been outpacing the field - not only did he leave in plenty of time, but he's moved on to his _next_ career phase in the time that Ramsay took only to leave :-)
