i am VERY attached to that Link. lore-wise he's at the crux of the history of hyrule (good vs bad timelines), and its sad to think he achieved so much only to suffer the most. 😭😭

when he defeats the mask and saves termina, he's sent back to hyrule. what would he be feeling then? resignation? detached?
then we get an even more depressing fact about the hero of time in twilight princess. he's a lost soul, with a missing eye. a warrior who lived and died on the battlefield.

it always struck me as a kid how mm is tween link all the way through. but it makes sense. he hasn't forgotten anything, but boy does he see some truly disturbing stuff in termina. there's always this lingering feeling of unease. the fact he knows the moon WILL crush termina 😭

majora's mask is link looking for navi, but its almost like he's the one that's lost. he succeeded in saving hyrule, while being given a chance to live a childhood with the kokiri. but how can he possibly go back after what he's seen and lived through.

ooc ends with link sent back in time to being a 12yo after living months on end as an adult. the fact he's the only one to remember the devastation of ganondorf's rule just to warn zelda. but their relationship can never get to the same level it was in the alternate timeline. its heartbreaking

if theres a loz game i could gush about for hours on end, it would be ocarina of time, followed by majora's mask. they're almost inseparable though for link's story line.
I've always appreciated the gothic aesthetic of those games. the doom and hopelessness of that world-
