i'm making a #QBasic game using mode 13h, 320x200 8bpp. i'm using VGA line doubling to make it 320x100 then horizontally doubling each pixel for 160x100

i use a palette with 3 bits red/green and 2 blue, and "subpixel dither" in between colors. here's a thread of images showing what that's like

I used to be an iOS dev who did dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^{}); Now I'm a Godot dev who does await get_tree().process_frame. The more things change the more they stay the same.

The safety video for Japan Airlines has the Dreamcast-era CGI like you see in news reports and it was frying me before takeoff.

Years ago when I was QA at Namco I tested Bangai-O for Xbox Live, and sometimes when I make maps for Guinea Pig Gunner it reminds me of that game. I think it’s the multidirectional shooting and verticality. I haven’t thought of that game in years but today it’s affecting my own designs. #indiedev
