Literally the authoritarian playbook:
1. Call your opponents terrorists.
2. Deploy state power against them.

There's nothing subtle or confusing or complex about what's happening. The *outcome* is uncertain but the authoritarianism is right out in the open.

What Is Civil Twilight? Civil twilight is the brightest of the twilight phases. How is it defined and when does it start and end? What are civil dawn and civil dusk?

I grabbed the difference among the twilights and dusks--civil, nautical, and astronomical. So, for weather and astronomy geeks who haven't seen this--

β€œthe viral outrage disseminated on social media in response to ridiculous claims actually reduces the effectiveness of collective action. The result is a media environment that keeps us in a state of debilitating fear & anger, endlessly reacting to our oppressors instead of organizing against them.”

Just in case anyone's wondering how bad she's lying: the only people who can check books out of the LOC are congressional staff.

Library cards for use of the research centers are only available to people over the age of 16, and researchers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian.

Trump administration has shut down CDC's infection control committee Four members said they were informed of the termination Friday, but it had already taken effect in late March, according to a CDC letter.

GHASTLYβ€”Trump administration has shut down CDC's infection control committee HICPAC, which issued guidance about preventing the spread of infections in health care facilitiesβ€”hand-washing, mask-wearing and isolating sick patients.Β The committee is now dead; long live hospital infections.

β€œMasks should not be worn in public spaces in the Center. This is especially important for our public-facing and front-of-house employees”

The Kennedy Center is violating the rights of employees AND patrons.

People in public facing roles have the greatest risk & should not be fired for masking 🧡

100 days of Trump 2.0 and what do we have? Mass deportations, pardons for insurrectionists, federal purges, economic whiplash, and tariffs choking families.

At approximately six-thirty on Tuesday evening, Joseph Morton, the Washington correspondent for The Dallas Morning News and the White House pooler on duty, tapped out a short email about the press being on the move and hit send. The crux of the email was fairly innocuous. It said that the White House pool, a small group of reporters designated to cover an event on behalf of the larger press corps, had been β€œloaded into the press vans” and was following Donald Trump β€œto the NRCC dinner at the National Building Museum.” But it also noted something else: β€œA reporter and photographer with The Associated Press were turned away from joining the pool.”

It was likely that sentence, which came after a judge had ordered the administration to restore the AP’s access, that irked the White House. That specific pool report from Morton, I’ve learned, was never distributed by the White House to news outlets subscribed to its pool report mailing listβ€”a notable omission and a clear break from precedent.

-Trump bans the AP from the White House press pool

-Judge orders AP be allowed back into the pool

-Trump admin continues to block AP from the pool, and then censors the pool report noting the AP was turned away.

Great reporting from
