We kicked off the new year on the ice! ⛸️
In January, our team enjoyed a fun ice skating outing, an energizing way to connect, recharge, and start the year with motivation and team spirit.

Between October 14 and 16, Dr. Hübschen participated to the 20th meeting of the WHO European Regional Reference/Global Specialized laboratories in Berlin, Germany 🧪

Mid October, Dr C. Snoeck and A. Sausy again had the pleasure to participate to the annual meeting of the National Reference Laboratories for avian influenza and Newcastle disease virus in Italy🎉. Great exchange of information, especially in light of the current avian influenza situation in Europe.

🎉We are happy to announce that Emmie Gillet joined our team last September as a Laboratory technician. Emmie will be working on tick surveillance in Luxembourg, part of the One Health🌍for surveillance project.

Andrea Diaz, our PhD student, recently visited the Lao-Luxembourg laboratory hosted by the Institut Pasteur du Laos. The purpose of her visit was to advance her PhD project, focused on infectious diseases in children under five years of age in Laos. #InfectiousDiseases #VulnerablePopulations

In August, Dr Hübschen, Dr Reteng and C. Gamio attended a tick identification workshop in Tartu, Estonia. Organized by the OH4Surveillance consortium, the event focused on the morphological identification of common European ticks. Many thanks to Dr Chitimia-Dobler for sharing valuable expertise!

Dr Aleksandra Krawczyk participated to a workshop on an interdisciplinary approach for ticks and tick-borne pathogen risk assessment organized by PRAGMATICK COST Action (pragmatick-action.eu) on the 2nd and 3rd of October. #TickBorneDiseases #Ticks #EU

Alexandre Stockholm, from the Université de Lorraine, successfully completed his ten-week internship with us. 🎉👏
He explored the role of birds in the tick-borne disease borreliosis, under the supervision of Dr. Aleksandra Krawczyk. Alexandre will continue to work with us in August as summer student!

Together with Dr Ben Mamou from WHO EURO, Dr Judith Hübschen and Emilie Charpentier conducted an onsite accreditation visit to the National Measles and Rubella Laboratory in North Macedonia in June 2025. Congratulation to the team for successful accreditation!

On May 14th, we participated to a workshop at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg organized by the Division de l'inspection sanitaire. There, we shared our expertise on vector-borne disease surveillance with the medical community.
