On a similar note, while I also like Tom Lennon's take on the character later on, Peter Gadiot's Mxyzptlk is a toxic delight. "Mxyzptlk, but he's hot" is peak CW energy, too.

Early Supergirl referencing a Smallville-like friendship between Tyler Hoechlin's Clark and Lex is funny in retrospect knowing they would eventually cast the significantly older Jon Cryer as Lex.

I do try to see the upside that when I make new editorial connections, I'll just have a ton of potential things for them to look at to fit whatever their slate is looking for.

The answer was take a walk, remember an old story idea I really dug, and break a reworked version of the story.

I've generated so many new miniseries/OGN ideas in 2026, and the year's only like six weeks deep. 🙃

Latest book club read, Such Lovely Skin! Solid YA horror novel that absolutely flew by. I was worried upfront that it was going to be too heavy on pop culture references, but it found a good balance and made for a fun read.

It shows up in the document, like, two or three times, it is clearly a load-bearing element of the pitch that will make or break it.

Some new story ideas I have stall out for weeks if I can't come up with a working title I at least moderately like.

Anyway, I'm breaking a new story about demons!

I don't know, man, I just really want to write books with demons, apparently.

Oh, for sure, I've got something like that in the works! But in the meantime, I'm waiting for notes back and looking for something else to keep working on.

Struggling to figure out what to put my focus on next. Lots of ideas, but not sure which one is the best one to put effort into as the next one-sheet/pitch doc. Part of the general unmoored feeling I've been working through while I try to get anything going.

It was great seeing Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie a little early, but being with a Screen Unseen audience meant lots of viewers who did not vibe nearly as hard.

Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie and Wonder Man a real double whammy about the struggle to achieve a creative career.

I struggle with anything that makes a relationship feel transactional even if I know it's entirely reasonable to lean on your peers.

I've been working double time to shake stuff loose workwise this year, but for all that I've done, asking colleagues even just for advice remains anxiety-inducing.

It's been just over a year since leaving Dark Horse and I've grown a lot as a freelance editor. I'm really eager to get back to editing more comics and graphic novels this year, especially for authors in the indie space.

Anytime I see a piece of media with an absurdly exaggerated streamer character, I'm extra glad we went subtle with Influencer in Bullet Adventures.

Wrote a full outline for a pitch today. It's super rough, but I really like the shape of it and it caps off a week of lots of developmental writing. Back at it again next week!
