You know, I was thinking about the last GE campaigns and I couldn’t recall a single LD policy, but I do recalling Davey acting the goat abseiling, paddle boarding and generally acting like an arse. Doesn’t seem so funny now.

Genuine question:

Is the current political ‘hysteria’ partly driven by a media still hooked on the adrenaline of the post‑2016 era?

If so, does that suggest a deeper issue — that stable government may no longer be possible in a landscape addicted to perpetual drama?

Ed Davey is proving himself to be a self serving wanker. He is willing to deliver the country into the hands of vile, corrupt, Putin serving racists in order to maybe win himself another handful of seats in parliament? Despicable.

This is ultimately the reason that as the left we fail. Stupid knee jerk opportunistic statements from halfwits like this will only serve to solidify support of the right. It’s not like the UK is suddenly going to rally behind the also-rans of the last century.

Stupid

I like most of what you say Ed, but this reeks of naivety. You don’t beat a tyrant like Trump by making an enemy of him. I’m sure you know this which makes what you are actually do the equivalent of right wing gaslighting. I’m sure you are better than this.

How do you take aim at Reform whilst at the same time looking at rightwing policies to appease their voters? You do it by becoming the opposite of what they stand for, not the beige clone.

Farage squirms as Rep. Jamie Raskin obliterates the "Putin-loving, free speech imposter, Trump sycophant".

Let's keep on sharing this. It's what Farage deserves.

Why are our hapless British politicians incapable of making such a speech? And why does our news media hide these truths?

Letter from Ed Davey to Keir Starmer condemning Elon Musk for inciting violence and urging unity to defend democracy.

Letter from Ed Davey to Keir Starmer condemning Elon Musk for inciting violence and urging unity to defend democracy.

I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday.

As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.

I have to ask the question, what is Starmer willing to allow Musk to get away with before he takes action against his dangerous calls to violence?

Elon Musk openly called for violence on our streets yesterday.

I hope politicians from all parties come together to condemn his deeply dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric.

Britain must stand united against this clear attempt to undermine our democracy.

A good answer, thank you.

Again while I understand the logic of your argument, you are still saying that it’s not possible for left wing policies/actions to survive the consequences. So what is the answer?

14.09.2025 06:25 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I understand this, however at every turn presented, there will be consequences to those actions. In a world fuelled by evil, I expect the consequences of doing even the smallest act of good to be severe. We must perservere.

This is absolutely disgraceful reporting by the BBC. They never, ever, cover any protests or marches for left wing issues, but decide to front page a racist, fascist bastard?! This country is finished.

I understand the current political climate presented a choice of “embrace the right” or “embrace the left”. The sad fact is that we the left are harder to please than the right, and because of that I believe Starmer made the wrong choice.

I can’t help but agree with you, though I am utterly appalled that it may come to this.

Is this the beginning of the end for Starmer, and is Andy Burnham the man to pull us out of this mess?

Depends what we class as possible, is an LD/Green coalition possible? Sure. But likely enough to consider in the realms of possibility? Not at all. Tories will form a pact with Reform, mark my words. That leaves 2 options; a Lab pivot and reformation in the polls or PR coalition. Neither seem likely

09.09.2025 11:10 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

It could but I’d also point out that with the Tories, we saw it coming from a mile away. Unfortunately I feel the same is currently true for Labour. I never thought I’d be saying it, but I’m not sure I can vote for them again except to keep reform out of power.

08.09.2025 16:31 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I would be very happy to see that, but with the way things are looking I’m worried it would take a 4 way between Lab, LD, SNP & Greens, of which there is no chance of happening. Labour could have pivoted left and allowed the right to continue to eat itself but instead we are facing a reform gov.

07.09.2025 16:12 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I don’t think I am jumping the gun, unless Labour make a major shift in policy and bring in PR in order to consolidate the left wing vote, I can’t see any other outcome. Starmer’s blinkered determination to somehow curry favour with the rabid right is going to be Labours undoing.

What happens after we end up with a Reform Government? Will the rest of us be forced to leave to live a non-racist life?

Anybody know the best place to go or that would have us?

Why can’t people understand that Trump is the greatest threat that ever existed to the western world of democracy when every single thing he does invariably gets judged as Illegal?!

What is the point in the idea of democracy when governments will literally just do what they want now? It’s a double betrayal of morality.

Tories: Labours one in one out plan to exchange 50 migrants per week isn’t enough.

Number of migrant sent back per week under the Tories: 0

If the OBR is saying that the UK’s finances are not sustainable….
And the population are saying they feel betrayed by Labour not delivering on financial promises….
And Reeves says “there’s no magic money tree”….
Surely only spending on growth of the economy through rebuilding services will save us?

If Labour focused more on being Labour instead of persisting in their doomed venture to cling to right wing votes they should neither want nor need, they wouldn’t have faced the prospect of defeat at the hand of their own MP’s.
