WHEN THERE ARE WOLVES AGAIN by @catamaroon.bsky.social is out now in hardback from @arcadiabooks.bsky.social and it's wonderful! I absolutely loved it so I was thrilled to be able to interview E.J. about this brilliant speculative story of rewilding, climate change and hope for a sustainable future.

As someone asked me earler for a list of the Silver Skulls stories, I remembered this lovely article by @trackofwords.bsky.social and thought I'd share it again.

That's true, I imagine you must have definitely committed a lot of time to that book already!

And the Martha Wells Humble Bundle was amazing - I picked it up too, even though I already had quite a lot of the ebooks! One day I'll read her non-Murderbot stuff too. One day...

Oof...so you still read about 200k words of it - that's an impressive achievement even so! What a great choice to go for Murderbot instead :) As I'm sure you know, I LOVE MURDERBOT!

Oh nice - I haven't reread LoTR for so long! Glad you're enjoying it :) And yeah, I absolutely loved Solo - just finished it this morning. It's not a book that claims to have all the answers, but it's super thought-provoking and relevant to both remote workers and freelancers.

Oh good choice! I hope Guy gets to write a third Cawl book, to make it into a trilogy with Genefather and The Great Work 🀞

I’ve not been online much recently, but I’ve still been chipping away with my reading. Here are my two current reads - very different books, but both fascinating in their own rights!

What have you been reading lately?

I loved Clear - listened to it in audio and was blown away. If you like short stories I'd also recommend her anthology The Redemption of Galen Pike, which is phenomenal! :)

I've got a few suggestions :)

SFF:
The Warm Hands of Ghosts - Katherine Arden
Wearing the Lion - John Wiswell
Paved With Good Intentions - Peter McLean
Every Version of You - Grace Chan
Esperance - Adam Oyebanji

Non-SFF:
Clear - Carys Davies
There Are Rivers in the Sky - Elif Shafak

So this is happening, and it's super exciting! Lots of really cool things in the pipeline at the moment. More information as and when...

Yeah, from what I've read so far it's excellent! As you say, properly weird and creepy...

I’ve been meaning to read THE KING IN YELLOW for ages, and now I’m finally taking the plunge. One story in and it’s a *wild* ride! Anyone else a fan of this one?

Or if you already love Murderbot and just want to get hold of everything in digital while supporting a good cause!

Yeah, these covers look cool together. And it's just SO good to see #BlackLibrary support Peter Fehervari's work like this! Here's hoping for something new relatively soon, too...

25.08.2025 09:47 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 1

Yeah for sure. It’s got the same design/branding as Cthonia’s Reckoning, so clearly a non-numbered Heresy novel as opposed to a Scouring novel.

22.08.2025 20:54 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Gotta say, I do still love MMPBs. Although I got rid of all mine and bought the HBs instead - I got suckered into it when Angel Exterminatus launched, then carried on from there. Ebooks seem like a good idea though if you’re waiting for the MMPBs.

22.08.2025 20:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Sensible. Buying LEs just seems awful these days.

22.08.2025 20:50 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

BL hasn’t made the Heresy an easy prospect for collectors, have they? I’ve got to say, digital is looking appealing…

22.08.2025 20:49 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Honestly I think that’s a good thing, to have not bothered with LEs! Think you’ll keeping buying HBs then? Or resist the FOMO and wait for PBs?

22.08.2025 20:48 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Done with LEs? (Entirely understandable!) Or done with Heresy books in general?

22.08.2025 20:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

A sensible choice. I’ve got all the main range and Siege books in HB but I do wonder if ebook might be the way to go from now on. It’ll be interesting to see if BL ever releases any information setting expectations of what the Siege will be: a few books? A dozen? Open-ended?

22.08.2025 20:45 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah I think so. A few years ago I’d have said I was hoping they would do this…but after the Siege I’m not sure I have that much enthusiasm for the Heresy as a setting. Or rather, I can see myself cherry picking certain stories rather than collecting and reading them all.

Question for the #BlackLibrary readers: if you collected the original Horus Heresy/Siege of Terra books in a physical format (LE/HB/PB etc.) are you planning to keep collecting the Scouring novels and/or any new Heresy novels? Or are you going to change formats/not bother at all?

All 4 volumes of THE HALFLING SAGA by @melissa-blair.bsky.social is out today in the UK from @arcadiabooks.bsky.social! To celebrate, I'm delighted to present an annotated excerpt of book 1, A BROKEN BLADE, in which Melissa introduces us to the central character of assassin Keera. Enjoy!
