What inspired your poem for Stonework?

My poem is an ekphrastic response to ‘Canary resuscitator’, an aluminium animal air tester, as used by rescue parties in mines.

I am reminded that 201 years ago yesterday, 16 July 1824, Lord Byron was buried within his family vault.

I felt proud to have honoured Byron on the bicentenary of his death last year with this poem.
