For years I've been saying one of the issues with politics was the need to revisit rules that assume all politicians are approaching their office with a sense of integrity & with a purpose to serve. The stunning lack of tools to curb this kind of behaviour & level meaningful consequence is alarming

The targeting of school board officials, politicians, municipal leaders is an open threat to democracy because it targets people who dare step up to serve.

North America has created the perfect post-truth society through media's decay and social media's lack of regulation IMO. When truth doesn't matter, where facts are what you want them to be, it's an easy leap to dismiss other values like integrity and respect.
