Thanks so much to @danimcclain.bsky.social for this powerful, heartbreaking piece and for highlighting some of the work I have been fortunate to do with my wonderful collaborators at BU on the staggering disparities in exposure to firearm violence that Black children face in this country --

Deaths by suicide are increasing at a faster rate for Black children and young adults than for any other racial or ethnic group. I looked at the city where I'm raising a tween to find out why www.thenation.com/article/soci...

What Black Youth Need to Feel Safe Young people are facing a mental health crisis. This group of Cincinnati teens thinks they know how to solve it.

I spent months talking to families, therapists, youth advocates and scholars about youth mental health. Turns out focusing on screens and social media doesn’t adequately address what’s happening in the lives of Black adolescents. My latest for @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Milbank’s column somehow passed muster and ranβ€”even though that required the highly unusual step of it being submitted to the publisher for review. Eugene Robinson followed, with a subtle column on the new documentary about Katharine Graham; the column made no reference to Bezos, but its paeans to Graham’s courage in the face of Richard Nixon’s threats evoked an implicit comparison with the current owner and his relationship with Trump. Our media critic, Erik Wemple, was less fortunate. His straightforward column disagreeing with the Bezos announcementβ€”I read it in our internal system, and found it perfectly reasonableβ€”never ran.

In Ruth Marcus' new column for The New Yorker in which she unveils the Washington Post column that was rejected and led to her resignation, she points out that the paper's media critic Erik Wemple also had a piece disagreeing with Bezos' new opinion mandate nixed.

For a third straight day, an AP reporter was blocked from attending an Oval Office event, I'm told.

BREAKING: Judge Deborah Boardman of the U.S. District Court of Maryland granted a nationwide preliminary injunction blocking the implementation of the Trump administration's executive order on birthright citizenship. The order, she ruled, conflicts with the plain language of the 14th Amendment.
