I'm wondering if it will build to a focus. But it does seem a bit all over. Haven't seen this week's yet.

Thinking about Strange New Worlds doing a zombie ep, but like their Gorn Aliens ep last season it felt like a weak copy, not those things through a Trek lens. Like is a zombie a person with rights? Heroes were seeking a possible cure for a different infection, but no talk of curing zombies. Weak.

You can have story. Or you can have data.

Story is choices. Data is no choices, just more stuff, but presented with no weight, value or sense. Just more.

We are watching the tyranny of the takeover of story - of choice, of taste, of craft, of meaning - by the data people.

Horrible.

And I can't believe most books don't have like colour coding or icons or whatever for their spells and abilities. So far behind modern textbooks.

I have been banging the drum on this. I made a graphic novel that's a visual adventure like that (first 2 images), and then I made some adventures people can use for D&D that are laid out like graphic novels (second 2 images). Wish I'd get work developing this kind of this for a TTRPG press.

Now im seeing a whole generation of artists have the worst anxiety, the worst imposter syndrome, the worst paychecks, while being able to produce the best work i've ever seen.. have their whole reality and message of their career shift.

Friday #kidlit recap. First, what a great turnout for postcard day, right? I pushed through a LOT of marketing this week and made some time for writing too. A small magazine assignment dropped in mid-week so I'll be sketching that up today. How about you?

Turned in a script for my regular magazine gig, worked on another portfolio piece (got some great crits from discord peers) and made some tweaks to slideshows for my fall illustration classes.
