PSA: Sharks are amazing and are very, very rarely dangerous to people. My friend is a marine biologist and has worked with them for years! Equally, octopuses are awesome! They are super clever and their biology is fascinating ❤️

So, she sings. She sings. But she’s alone. She can’t sing in rounds, can’t play the different roles. And the octopus is coming after her. Every floor she climbs, its tentacles are there, slamming down after her, creeping through corridors, and she knows she won’t make it because she’s on her own.

They find many of them, and tell them to sing, sing for your life! But there is one person who is alone. The three women find her, but they can’t get to her. They yell at the top of their voices to sing, and then keep climbing because they can’t stop. They have to reach the top before they drown.

They deduce that the octopus likes the songs. As long as they sing, they’ll be safe and make it to the top. But water is still rushing in from the tsunami so they have to hurry. As they climb, they search for the other survivors from their cruise ship.

Understand at this point that the only show tunes I know are from Westside Story and The Rocky Horror Show, but these women are signing songs I have never heard. They sing in rounds, pick up different parts, they know all the songs. It’s amazing. And… the octopus leaves them alone!!

But the octopus is clever! Tentacles start winding up the stairs, appearing seemingly at random, to snatch people away. Desperate and flooded with fear, a group of three women start singing show tunes in an attempt to keep their moral up and focus on the exhausting climb.

Our heroes are panicking. They decide to split up (I know, I know. I am not in charge of this dream). Now there are groups of twos and threes, all running up staircases, trying to keep ahead of the rising water and away from the windows.

Then a tentacle smashes through the glass of the nearest window and pulls someone out.

They run into a nearby office block, and start desperately running up the stairs to get higher than the incoming wave and the octopus. Tentacles fill the windows. The octopus is so big all they can see is sections of its arms, suckers pressed against the glass. The water is rising around them.

IT’S A GIANT OCTOPUS 🐙

HOWEVER!

All the shark fighting and eating creates a tsunami, crashing towards the beach. The shadow of the wave blocks out the sun. The group run towards the city, holding hands, helping each other, as the wave looms overhead. Within it, something moves…

An even bigger shark, ginormous and terrifying, comes up behind their shark and swallows it whole. The resulting wave causes the remains of their ship to hurtle towards the beach, essentially surfing the wave. They skid into the sand, but they’re alive.

packed with people who are all, understandably, panicking. There is a city on the beach - this is a big destination, not a secluded hideaway.

Our heroes watch as their shark starts barrelling towards them, huge mouth open, and realise they’re going to die.

BUT THEN!

ONLY they look through the wide oberservation window to see that across the sea, there are even bigger sharks destroying other boats: cruise ships, tankers, all sorts. This slaughter is happening just a short distance from the coast of a beautiful, white sand beach (…)

people screaming as they slide towards its tooth-filled mouth.

Our heroes make it to the deck. They cry and hug each other in relief. They enter the captain’s room, the highest part of the ship, with the plan to signal for help.

Our group of heroes, about twelve of them, are desperately navigating the cruise ship as the giant shark chomps away at it. Huge scenes where they were running from the rising water and suddenly! Shark appears suddenly, biting through the walls (…)

A cruise ship is being attacked by a giant shark - this shark is *huge*, big enough to bit whole sections of the ship away. The boat has a safety feature that ensures that if section floods, it’s sealed off like a submarine or the rig in the Abyss.

(I wasn’t ‘in’ this dream, it was like a movie. This is one of my personal requirements to define a Story Dream from a regular dream.)
