I’m curious to know what analysis there is on how far from sources these tools appear. Is there evidence of trade or deliberate travel to sources of chert from distance? Here in the midwestern US we found chert that was widely distributed from particular sources. Did Neanderthal folks trade?

I understand this feeling. While doing field school in the summer of 1991, on a survey I picked up my first paleo point. I walked over to my professor (probably with a fully smug affect), handed it to him. He said “you dirty dog”. He’d never found one.
