It’s not a standalone Qatari military base. It’s a training facility on the preexisting Mountain Home Air Force Base. Many foreign countries have such facilities in the US as part of the Foreign Military Sales program. This particular facility has been under review for many years.

The same thing is underway here in Denver. Nexstar owns the local Fox affiliate and is negotiating the acquisition of Tegna, which owns the local NBC station. The NBC affiliate has by far the better news organization. There’s a lot of concern that the same thing will happen here.
