Precisely! With balance as the goal, I’m constantly chasing the unachievable. I liken this to harmony in music where the simultaneous combination of musical notes creates a rich, unified sound. Sometimes work is the lead and other times life is the lead. When done well, both are beautiful.

As a millennial, I reject the concept of work-life balance. Balance is a state where opposing forces are equal and that’s often not possible in the work-life relationship. I strive for work-life harmony where the different parts of my life, though unequal in size, combine to create a unified whole.

Some special issues I’ve submitted to, or considering, have requirements regarding making materials available “we ask authors to share their research materials, analysis code, and analysis output in public repositories (e.g., OSF, GitHub).” This is clearly not the preprint but def the sup stuff
