01.05.2025 09:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Productive meeting with Baroness Merron and campaigner @hopevirgo.bsky.social to discuss eating disorder prevention and treatment.
Eating disorder cases are skyrocketing- yet treatment is often underfunded and misunderstood.
I will keep pushing the government to make eating disorders a priority.
It's absolutely shocking how mental health care in Wales is still this bad. I was at uni in Cardiff in 2009-2012 and it was terrible then. And it's not like they haven't had their fair share of people campaigning for it!
What do you think is holding them back?

18.03.2025 15:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Reminder than anyone of us can become disabled in a matter of seconds. All it takes is one accident, one symptom, one illness.
It might not be you facing destitution today, but it could be tomorrow. Be kind. Fight back. #DisabilityBenefits
Whatever this heinous Government says today, please remember lots of people will be fighting back.
Take time out if you need, remember that you matter as you are worthy of being here and being supported.
Behind the headlines and the stigmatising language about disability benefits are real people - millions of them. People who are scared about what this news might mean for their day-to-day lives. 1/2
18.03.2025 08:39 β π 224 π 79 π¬ 7 π 3Being disabled is not a choice.
Itβs not a βlifestyleβ.
Itβs not sitting at home all day enjoying life.
Itβs being disabled.
Itβs having life-limiting g health conditions.
Itβs constant pain, debilitating symptoms, and never being able to truly enjoy life to the fullest.
It's even WORSE than I expected. I thought they might face more opposition from the back benches and be forced to roll back a bit. This is horrendous. In the middle of a cost of living crisis when people are on their knees anyway.
Nobody CHOOSEs to be disabled and unable to work.

In a way I kind of feel for some of those Labour voters. I think many of them did genuinely believe they were voting for change.
It was my first time voting Lib Dem in about 14 years because I couldn't trust them.
Absolutely horrified that a government we all thought would be marginally better is choosing to cut benefits for the most vulnerable members of society in the middle of the cost of living crisis.
Disabled people are already living in poverty.
Immoral and wrong. #disabilitybenefits
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfying is this?

π¨ NEW: The RCPsych has identified plans that would result in funding cuts for children and young peopleβs eating disorder services in more than half of areas across England.
We're calling for the creation of a national strategy for eating disorders in England.
