Photo of NBC’s exit poll data (from my work laptop, lol) showing Mamdani splitting the straight vote equally with Cuomo, but taking the LGBTQ+ vote by more than 5:1. Even though the LGBTQ+ slice is only 14% of the population, they were a LANDSLIDE in his favor.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

the problem with modern videogame rpgs is they don't have quests like the one in phantasy star, where you need to bribe a governor with cake, but the only cake shop in the entire solar system is on a different planet, at the bottom of a four-floor dungeon, behind a locked door.

Arm chair diagnosis is generally speaking a bad idea for a multitude of reasons.

But everyone with Post Exertional Malaise reading this sequence of events is inhaling sharply and saying "Oh dear"

As a teenager, Great Uncle Arnold survived the Holocaust hiding in haystacks in a field being searched by SS.

My uncle Stewart was a musician who recorded an 80s soft rock cover (think even less sexy Rod Stewart) of The Monster Mash that enjoyed seasonal popularity on local Long Island radio.

I’m not a Trekkie but I’ve done enough basic research into the Star Trek fandom to know women basically invented it, and are why the show even continued to exist. This kind of writing is part of institutional sexism that denies women’s accomplishments and role in history and it infuriates me

screenshot of a post from @jamellebouie.net saying "normies do not care about this thing so it is no use raising a stink" is imho just an excuse for not doing politics, which is the job of making normies care about something.

I agree. Now apply this energy to masking and improving ventilation in public spaces.

(I tried to quote the post but Mr Bouie blocked me immediately after I did so)

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.

He has to rationalize the horrors somehow. If nothing reasonable could have been done, if it was unavoidable, that makes it easier for some people to cope. A convenient delusion for unresolved trauma. It's not even his fault. I don't blame anyone for coping badly. But I am left feeling hopeless.

I have yet to hear a coherent liberal/"leftist" argument for how the request to mask at the grocery store is a completely unreasonable ask that prevents you from "living your life". The entire argument seems to be "but I don't wanna", but they know how that answer makes them look

Universal masking, which we tried for two hot seconds in America before people started throwing tantrums & posting up with their guns, is about the same kind of understanding ourselves as a collective we would actually need to counter fascism. You care about the community so you set a group norm.

All the more reason you should want others to mask, so you can more safely go without one

Semmelweiss was in fact regarded as a crank during his lifetime. We've always been slow to adopt new public health measures. I wish we were learning from that example, but we clearly are not.

On the scratching end of things, I tend to scratch in my sleep so willpower is not sufficient. I keep my nails trimmed as short as possible so I can't do as much damage. If it's really bad I'll wear gloves or socks on my hands when I sleep!

This is probably something you're already doing - minimizing the amount of histamine triggered by your diet by avoiding fermented foods, leftovers etc. Search "low histamine diet" for charts ranking foods by histamine

Histamine is like a bucket - the fuller the bucket, the easier it overflows.

Crumbling at the notion of simply putting a mask on is tiny baby pathetic weaksauce. Anyone with such lack of resilience would not last a single week with an illness like Long COVID.

Yet they continue to risk getting exactly such an illness. 🤷 (Not to mention spreading it to others, too.)

even the smartest folks whose takes i otherwise appreciate, who otherwise want to resist fascism themselves & encourage others to, find wearing a mask in, at least, public indoor spaces—to prevent the harms of this administration from impacting others—to be a bridge too far; it’s shameful, frankly.

Multiple times per day I encounter people describing flu-like symptoms with confusing presentation and nagging fatigue and I just feel so helpless.

I know most of them don't have ME/CFS, they just have some weird bug. But odds are, some of them do, and they don't know it and are making it worse.

I need to post this so that it will not come true and embarrass me, which, according to my extensive experimentation, is a consistent law of the universe about proclamations I make

The government will stay shut down so that Johnson never has to swear in Grijalva and congress will never meet again.
