โ€œI vote Republican because the government spends too muchโ€ is something racists say so they can sleep at night.

American conservatism (as practiced by Republicans) is like the invasive plant species that I have in my yard. You canโ€™t just cut it down, burn it out or mow over it because it will just grow right back. It must be uprooted, then diligently surveilled to assure it never returns again.๏ฟผ

If she runs, she has my vote in a Democratic primary for President. Sheโ€™s the only plausible candidate I trust to at least *try* to eradicate the Republican Party and American fascism from the foundation up.๏ฟผ

This quote from AOC perfectly encapsulates my view in one short paragraph. She gets the problem we (as a party) face. No โ€œour friends across the aisleโ€ bullshit. No โ€œthe fever will break once Trump is goneโ€ nonsense.

The American electorate never really learned lessons from the George W. Bush โ€œIโ€™m the deciderโ€ Unitary Executive concept pushed onto it by the Republican Party that led directly to the catastrophe that was the Iraq War.

By not doing so, the way was paved for Trump.

The Bills choosing to honor โ€œreplacement theoryโ€ Charlie Kirk with a moment of silence 3 years after the Tops Market massacre is a disgusting reminder of how far we have fallen as a nation.

In regards to this assertion, Iโ€™m reminded of a line from the late, great Eric Boehlert:

โ€œalso, unicornsโ€

Iโ€™m a *super* liberal New Deal social safety net Democrat and not even one single time in my life have I ever contemplated Meghan McCain dying. In fact the only time I even remember she exists at all is when she posts something unbelievably stupid like this.

The answer depends upon what is meant by โ€œour own Stephen Millerโ€. If it means a loud and proud advocate for democracy the way Miller loudly and proudly advocates for fascism, then yes. If he means our own sniveling, evil little shit-weasel, then no.

Itโ€™s good to know that as Project 2025 is turning the country into a Republican christofascist police state, the circus clown nominally in charge is unpopular.๏ฟผ

Republicans/conservatives supposed concern about the national debt is one of the biggest political myths of the modern era - only equal to โ€œRepublicans are better than Democrats on jobs/economyโ€.

Itโ€™s a triumph of GOP marketing.

Imagine devoting your entire life to making the United States into a christofascist police state and then die just when itโ€™s actually happening.

Iโ€™m not sure what heโ€™s saying here but hereโ€™s what I do know - the goal of Project 2025 is to make the United States into a one party country.

Theyโ€™ve ran this same play time after time - most notably Barrโ€™s letter sanitizing the Mueller report. And it will probably work again.

When I look back on my MSNBC cable tv news addiction (described in my 2017 stroke blog), I feel *very* silly.

I agree Fetterman has been a disappointment, but this is deranged.

I did the math. The odds of being diagnosed with with both a cerebral arteriovenous malformation *and* an abdominal aortic dissection over an 8 year timespan isโ€ฆdrumroll pleaseโ€ฆ

Trump desperately wants this to be another 2003 Iraq situation, but this time the people arenโ€™t fooled. Trump will get no political advantage from this decision - possibly a negative one.

What are the chances that Iโ€™d have both a 3 in every 100,000 persons medical condition *and* a 1 in every 100,000 persons medical condition. Iโ€™m too lazy to do the math. I canโ€™t possibly be around much longer #AVM #AorticDissection

Still havenโ€™t got an acceptable answer to the question who are these guys and why are they allowed to operate with impunity as immigration enforcement in our country.

My take is that the Democratic House Leader should not be reporting the news, but instead giving his frank analysis of what it all means for the state of our country. And thatโ€™s my most charitable interpretation of this pile of manure.

In fairness, he did say it was an โ€œescalationโ€, but didnโ€™t identify whoโ€™s doing the escalating. Just leaves it up to the reader to figure it out.

I know that for an elected official these are difficult terms to use, but itโ€™s irresponsible to delude people into thinking the guy was simply a disturbed individual just because itโ€™s uncomfortable to tell the truth.

On a personal note: Iโ€™ve been diagnosed with a Type B Aortic Dissection that showed up in a routine MRI for mild lower back pain. Iโ€™m to consult with a vascular surgeon, but none of the treatment options (TEVAR surgery, medical management) look very good long term.

I truly believe that the Republican Party has a plan for the 2026 midterms that involves a declaration of national emergency due to โ€œimmigrant invasionโ€, executive branch wartime powers and martial law. They wonโ€™t just sit by and let Democrats take over the House. I genuinely hope Iโ€™m wrong.

And donโ€™t try and tell me itโ€™s just Trump, and the moment Trump goes away everything changes and goes back to normal. That is magical thinking. Trump has shown the Republicans what is possible and thereโ€™s no way back until the Republican Party is crushed.
