“I vote Republican because the government spends too much” is something racists say so they can sleep at night.

American conservatism (as practiced by Republicans) is like the invasive plant species that I have in my yard. You can’t just cut it down, burn it out or mow over it because it will just grow right back. It must be uprooted, then diligently surveilled to assure it never returns again.

If she runs, she has my vote in a Democratic primary for President. She’s the only plausible candidate I trust to at least *try* to eradicate the Republican Party and American fascism from the foundation up.

This quote from AOC perfectly encapsulates my view in one short paragraph. She gets the problem we (as a party) face. No “our friends across the aisle” bullshit. No “the fever will break once Trump is gone” nonsense.

The American electorate never really learned lessons from the George W. Bush “I’m the decider” Unitary Executive concept pushed onto it by the Republican Party that led directly to the catastrophe that was the Iraq War.

By not doing so, the way was paved for Trump.

The Bills choosing to honor “replacement theory” Charlie Kirk with a moment of silence 3 years after the Tops Market massacre is a disgusting reminder of how far we have fallen as a nation.

I’m a *super* liberal New Deal social safety net Democrat and not even one single time in my life have I ever contemplated Meghan McCain dying. In fact the only time I even remember she exists at all is when she posts something unbelievably stupid like this.

The answer depends upon what is meant by “our own Stephen Miller”. If it means a loud and proud advocate for democracy the way Miller loudly and proudly advocates for fascism, then yes. If he means our own sniveling, evil little shit-weasel, then no.

Republicans/conservatives supposed concern about the national debt is one of the biggest political myths of the modern era - only equal to “Republicans are better than Democrats on jobs/economy”.

Trump desperately wants this to be another 2003 Iraq situation, but this time the people aren’t fooled. Trump will get no political advantage from this decision - possibly a negative one.

Still haven’t got an acceptable answer to the question who are these guys and why are they allowed to operate with impunity as immigration enforcement in our country.

My take is that the Democratic House Leader should not be reporting the news, but instead giving his frank analysis of what it all means for the state of our country. And that’s my most charitable interpretation of this pile of manure.

In fairness, he did say it was an “escalation”, but didn’t identify who’s doing the escalating. Just leaves it up to the reader to figure it out.

I know that for an elected official these are difficult terms to use, but it’s irresponsible to delude people into thinking the guy was simply a disturbed individual just because it’s uncomfortable to tell the truth.

It wasn’t a “madman”. It was a radicalized Republican political assassin and terrorist.

On a personal note: I’ve been diagnosed with a Type B Aortic Dissection that showed up in a routine MRI for mild lower back pain. I’m to consult with a vascular surgeon, but none of the treatment options (TEVAR surgery, medical management) look very good long term.

I truly believe that the Republican Party has a plan for the 2026 midterms that involves a declaration of national emergency due to “immigrant invasion”, executive branch wartime powers and martial law. They won’t just sit by and let Democrats take over the House. I genuinely hope I’m wrong.

And don’t try and tell me it’s just Trump, and the moment Trump goes away everything changes and goes back to normal. That is magical thinking. Trump has shown the Republicans what is possible and there’s no way back until the Republican Party is crushed.
